      International Student and Scholar Advisor (PSS3), International Center

      Position Summary:

      The International Center at Rowan University is seeking full-time International Student and Scholar Advisor for the International Center. This position is the primary support for F-1 International Student Program.

      The International Student and Scholar Advisor r esponsibilities include:

      Issuing I-20 Form

      • Prepares certificates of eligibility (I-20) for international students to apply for F-1 visa
      • Updates the admitted student information in Terra Dotta/SEVIS systems in a timely manner
      • Works with Undergraduate Admissions and Graduate Admissions to issue I-20 Forms for admitted students

      Student Services for Current International Students

      • Advises current international students on issues of concern: academic, personal, financial, etc. Advises current international students, faculty and staff on immigration policies and procedures Advocates on campus for international students in appropriate situations
      • Assists international students in application for government benefits (i.e. OPT and CPT)
      • Assists international students in campus and cultural adjustment
      • Helps international students maintain status, regain status, and change status
      • Issues updated I-20s for students making changes of any kind to their SEVIS record
      • Maintains University and student compliance with federal and state immigration laws and regulations
      • Manages and maintains the Terra Dotta and SEVIS database
      • Registers F-1 and J-1 students in Terra Dotta/SEVIS
      • Signs I-20s and DS-2019s for travel outside of U.S. by international students

      Responsible Officer J-1 Visa Program

      • Prepares certificates of eligibility (DS-2019) for international students and scholars to apply for J-1 visa
      • Reissues DS-2019 Form for those who need to defer their start date or reapply for J-1 visa
      • Tracks the status of pending DS-2019 Forms and coordinates and shares information with relevant campus units
      • Works with partner universities and organizations and Rowan’s academic departments to issue DS-2019 Forms for accepted students and scholars
      • As a Responsible Officer, prepares and submits J-1 Program Annual Report and petition for redesignation.

      Services for Current International Students and Scholars

      • Advises current international exchange students and visiting scholars on issues of concern: academic, personal, financial, etc.
      • Advises current international exchange students and scholars and Rowan’s faculty and staff on related immigration policies and procedures
      • Advocates on campus for international students and scholars in appropriate situations
      • Assists international students and scholars in application for status and category changes
      • Assists international students and scholars in campus and cultural adjustment
      • Helps international students and scholars maintain status, regain status, and change status
      • Issues updated DS-2019 Forms for students making changes of any kind to their SEVIS record
      • Maintains University and student compliance with federal and state immigration laws and regulations
      • Manages and maintains the Terra Dotta and SEVIS database
      • Registers all J-1 students and scholars in Terra Dotta and SEVIS

      Exchange Programs

      • Collaborates with representatives from foreign colleges, universities, and organizations for special projects or programs as required
      • Coordinates exchange students’ admissions to Rowan University
      • Coordinates exchange students’ course registrations
      • Tracks exchange students’ duration of study and course loads per semester at Rowan University

      International Student Orientation and Cultural Events

      • Help coordinate International Student Orientation two times a year.
      • Help coordinate cultural/social events on/off campus.

      Minimum requirements:

      • Two (2) years of professional related experience.
      • Bachelor's Degree

      Note: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US, and the university will not sponsor an applicant for a work visa for this position.
