- Perform Wind Resource Assessments to assess the wind and site conditions, according to the Vattenfall way of working
- Analyze constraints for every specific site, in order to define the optimal lay-out of WTGs and WTG selection
- Perform Production Assessments including curtailments
- Perform uncertainty analyses in order to assess risks
- Combine technical requirements, practical limitations and financial opportunities into an optimized site layout
- Analyze performance of operating wind farms and apply learnings to future analyses
- Collaborate closely with our stakeholders spread throughout the organization
- You have a university degree in the direction of Wind Energy, Sustainability, Engineering, Physics, Meteorology or equivalent, with a focus on Wind production calculations.
- You have a passion for renewable energy in general, and wind energy in particular
- You want to get a better understanding of what drives Wind energy
- You have a curious and creative mind, who is comfortable outside the box
- You are driven towards optimizing our sustainable portfolio
- You strive for perfection, but never lose sight of reality along the way
- You have strong analytical skills and are comfortable to work with large datasets

Become one of our 34 International Trainees at Vattenfall. Each of the trainee positions is unique, linked to a department within a specific business area and a working location. This means that each position has its own specific responsibilities, challenges and matching profile.
Next to your personal development in this unique position you will be enjoying one year of all we have to offer. Your trainee year will be filled with meetups with your international trainee team with likeminded individuals. You will be meeting up virtually to work on assignments and live during four seminar weeks where you will be visiting our power plants and growing your superpowers with a variety of trainings.
Business Area Wind is responsible for Vattenfall’s Onshore and Offshore Wind as well as other non-hydro Renewable activities. Today we develop, construct and operate wind generation in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK.
Your role as a Trainee – Wind Resource
Within BA Wind’s BU Onshore, Wind Resource team is part of the Market and Site Development department and amongst others responsible for delivering wind data for various objectives, having a thorough understanding of the wind flow and designing the layout of the wind farm. In short, we are responsible for maximizing the output of the future wind farms of Vattenfall, while keeping the permit and the financials in mind. Our calculations and designs can make the difference between a good and a bad business case or the difference between a wind farm which ends on paper or which ends up being realized.
At the same time we are aiming towards becoming more resilient towards the future in a market which become more and more competitive and high wind sites becoming scarce. Process optimization, data utilization and sharing our expertise are the most important pillars for us going forward. There is a whole world ahead of us, for which you contribution could be vital!
Your job as a Wind Resource Trainee:
As Wind Resource trainee you will analyze the wind conditions and site restriction in current and future windfarms, which includes wind data gathering, data analyses, site appraisal and loss calculations, which eventually leads to an optimal site layout and annual energy production estimation.

You are our ideal trainee if you are a recent graduate with an academic degree and have maximum one year of work experience, or you graduate before September 2024. You are fluent in English. Skills in other world languages can be a merit. You are willing to relocate for possible assignments throughout the organization.
