- Meets with hiring managers across the institution to develop internship and fellowship job descriptions based on short and long-term needs.
- Sources, interviews, and recruits interns and fellows for curatorial, curatorial support, and administrative departments.
- Partners with HR leadership to assess and improve progressive diversity sourcing and attraction strategies.
- Networks and builds relationships with partner institutions; attends professional conferences and identifies other networking opportunities.
- Manages program alumni relationships; establishes and maintains a talent database to keep track of interns and fellows academic and career progression post-MoMA and connects with them regarding future MoMA employment opportunities.
- Develops and delivers a robust onboarding program to introduce new interns and fellows to the Museum’s history, mission and culture.
- Develops, plans, and coordinates enrichment programs, including curator talks, weekly lecture series, field trips, etc. to ensure interns and fellows are exposed to all areas and careers that are found within museums.
- Serves as the primary point of contact and support for interns and fellows before and during their internship/fellowship.
- Provides support for intern/fellow managers throughout the process, including providing management skills training in partnership with HR colleagues.
- Regularly meets with interns and fellows to mentor and guide them to ensure a positive and productive experience while at MoMA.
- Collaborates with Human Resources colleagues, Curatorial Affairs or the respective department(s) to address and resolve any employee relations issues or concerns. Partners with Associate Director to address any employee relations issues affecting interns and fellows, as needed.
- With guidance from senior HR leadership, will provide support in areas of employee relations, employee training and development, etc., as well as provide backup support for HR colleagues.
- Strengthens the connection between interns/fellows and MoMA staff, and partner institutions through continued mentorship and outreach.
- Serves as the “Responsible Officer” and administers MoMA’s J-1 visa program through the U.S. Department of State’s Student and Visitor Exchange Visitor System (SEVIS).
- Partners with the External Affairs Division to ensure that intern and fellow candidates match with funding sources.
- Performs any other assigned duties reasonably related to the functions described above.
- Bachelor's degree and three or more years of experience in HR with a focus on recruitment, program management, and employee relations or equivalent.
- Experience with internship/fellowship programs, campus recruitment, etc. preferred.
- Superb organizational skills with the proven ability to deliver results and effectively manage multiple programs and projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Experience working with HRIS databases (e.g., UKG), preferred.
- Good understanding of federal and state employment law.
- Basic knowledge of immigration law as it relates to the J-1 visa process, preferred.
- Experience with building authentic relationships with a diverse audience of professionals.

Position summary:
The Internship and Fellowship Program Manager is responsible for all aspects of MoMA’s 12-month and seasonal internship programs and fellowship programs to help introduce interns and fellows to the Museum’s history, mission, culture, collections, and organizational systems and gain practical and theoretical training in museum work. The Internship and Fellowship Program Coordinator also works closely with partner institutions (LaGuardia Community College, Studio Museum of Harlem, etc.) on specifically defined fellowship programs to facilitate the annual relaunch of each program and to ensure program requirements and milestones are met.

Salary range: Minimum of $75,000 to maximum of $90,000 per annum
