Understanding of transport phenomena and thermodynamics.
Good knowledge of programming languages (e.g. Python and/or MATLAB).
Basic knowledge of data driven model concepts.
Experience in the implementation and numerical solution of nonlinear Partial Differential Equations and Ordinary Differential Equations systems.
Knowledge of CFD software (ANSYS FLUENT, OPENFOAM, COMSOL, STAR-CCM+).
Fluent in spoken and written in English.
Ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment
Ability to work in team in a supervised environment
Good communication skills
Optimistic mindset
Problem Solved oriented
Test of state-of-the-art modeling approach to model Fill & Finish unit operations such as Mixing System, Filtration, Pumps, Lyophilization, Freeze and Thaw.
Develop Scale-up/down correlations.

What will you do?
Context
We are seeking an enthusiastic Intern to join the Global Drug Product group within GSK Technical Research and Development located in Siena, Italy. The mission of the Technical Research and Development group is to deliver and transfer stable vaccine formulations and robust processes (fill & finish) to the clinical and manufacturing sites within GSK Vaccines network.
To support process understanding activities, assist process scale-up and transfer to the manufacturing facilities as well as process troubleshooting, mechanistic modeling approaches are developed and applied as a powerful tool in biotechnology and vaccine processes.
Project intern description
In this context, we are offering an internship with the objectives to:
The intern will actively participate in the development of mechanistic models for Fill & Finish Unit Operations, helping designing experimental activities following the Model by First Intent (MbFI) approach aiming to reducing costs and time of the experimental activities while ensuring a high process understanding.
Competencies the intern will develop thanks to the internship experience:
The intern, placed in the Italian Global Process Engineer Group, by the end of the internship will have a deep knowledge of vaccines and biopharmaceuticals Drug Product process and model development.
