- High School Diploma or GED or equivalent required.
- Successfully pass English/Somali language Medical Terminology exam prior to hire.
- 1 year at a minimum of experience in a medical setting required.
- Previous medical interpreting experience preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology required. Good typing and computer skills required.
- Registered in the State of MN as an interpreter required within 90 Days.
- Successful completion of oral proficiency testing in English and Somali language through the American Council on Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) with a score of 3.5+/Advanced-Mid Level required.
Part-time 32-40 hours every 2 weeks | Every Sat & Sun 7a-5:30p or 8a-4:30p | Somali interpreter
JOB SUMMARY:
Interpreter is responsible for providing Interpreter services as well as providing technical/clerical support. Interpreters provide language services to health care patients with limited English proficiency. The Interpreter helps patients to communicate with doctors, nurses, and other medical/nonmedical staff. The Interpreter will enable the delivery of appropriate, quality medical care to non-English speaking members of the community. Patients of all ages served. Supports and implements patient safety and other safety practices as appropriate. Supports and demonstrates Family Centered Care principles when interacting with patients and their families and with co-workers.
