      Your Tasks

      Whether it's a compulsory or voluntary internship - as an intern / flexikant (m/f/d) you will benefit in any case from an attractive remuneration and flexible working hours. You will support the team with the following responsible tasks:

      • Development of Python and Matlab scripts for automating experiments and data collection processes
      • Design and implementation of monitoring protocols for real-time monitoring and control of laboratory equipment
      • Support in integrating software modules into existing hardware components
      • Collaboration with researchers to optimize experimental processes
      • Documentation of code, procedures, and results for internal reference and future reproduction
      • Troubleshooting software and hardware problems during experiments
      • Maintaining knowledge of emerging technologies and tools in the field of quantum communication and laboratory automation
      • Active participation in experiments in the field of quantum communication (e.g., entanglement distribution, entanglement swapping, and quantum teleportation)

      Your Profile

      You have completed a bachelor's degree and are already enrolled in a master's program in computer science, electrical engineering, physics, or a related field. You have successfully completed the first semesters. You bring 4–6 months for the internship/ Flexikum. Technical interest, openness to new topics & people, and a passion for learning characterize you. You also bring the following:

      • Proficiency in programming languages Python, Matlab, or LabVIEW with experience in script development for automation and data analysis
      • Familiarity with monitoring protocols such as SNMP and experience in their implementation in a laboratory environment
      • Desirable experience in handling optical instruments such as lasers, waveplates, beam splitters, and optical fibers
      • Good knowledge of computer networks, including TCP/IP, UDP, and network configuration
      • Ability to work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team
      • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
      • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues from various backgrounds

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Previous knowledge of laboratory automation tools and frameworks
      • Experience with quantum communication protocols and technologies
      • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
      • Knowledge of basic principles of physics and information theory
      • Experience with scientific publications

      This position is also available on part-time basis.
