- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Statistics, or related field, or 2-4 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

- Ensures that the forecast accurately reflects the sales plans by coordinating forecast development with sales management
- Ensures that forecast accuracy goals are met by monitoring demand and POS data and responding to significant forecast variances
- Ensures that customer and company fill rate standards are met by identifying and reacting to potential stock-outs
- Ensures that inventory standards are met by identifying and reacting to potential excess and discontinued inventory
- Analyzes demand and POS history to develop quantitative baseline projections
- Collects and disseminates forecast intelligence and assumptions
- Coordinates judgmental review of baseline projections with sales management to develop forecasts that accurately reflect anticipated demand
- Reports, reviews, and reacts to significant forecast variances
- Performs data entry of forecast adjustments and related information
- Ensures that forecasting timelines are followed
- Assists and promotes individual and organizational learning regarding past and current forecasting assumptions and forecasting best practices
- Works with sales and operations to ensure that sufficient inventory plans are set for high-risk products (new products, high forecast error, long lead time, or “never out” products)
- Identifies and reviews potential stock-outs, and coordinates changes to the supply with sales and operations
- Identifies and reviews potential excess and discontinued inventory and coordinates changes to the supply with sales and operations
- Drives disposition of excess and discontinued product, including raw materials
- Conducts and participates in pertinent meetings for special research, data analysis, continuous improvement, or other projects as approved or assigned
- Builds and improves internal/external relationships while promoting teamwork
Orbit, located in North Salt Lake, UT (10 minutes north of downtown Salt Lake City), is looking for a full-time Inventory & Forecast Analyst. Why should you come work at Orbit? A Day in the Life of the Inventory & Forecast Analyst
The Inventory & Forecast Analyst is responsible for finding solutions to meet company goals for forecast error, inventory turns, fill rate, and other company metrics. The Inventory & Forecast Analyst also develops and maintains accurate demand forecasts, monitors inventory levels to ensure high fill rate without creating excess inventory, and reduces current inventories of excess/discontinued products.
