      Position Overview

      ViiV Healthcare is looking for a Scientific Investigator (Grade 7) to join the Discovery Pharmaceutics team based in Branford, CT as a Formulator and Project Contributor focused on discovering new medicines for the treatment, prevention, and cure of HIV. The candidate will ensure project appropriate implementation of pharmaceutics-related studies to drive the development of long-acting oral and injectable medicines, both small molecules and biologics, to enable project progression to candidate selection. This laboratory-based role will include designing, executing, analyzing, and reporting formulation-related studies for ViiV Drug Discovery programs. The role requires collaborating across multi- disciplinary matrix teams and will also contribute to innovation, performance, and success of the ViiV Discovery portfolio objectives. The candidate will also seek and bring new technologies and innovations to our discovery pharmaceutics platform through engagement with external academic and industrial collaborators.

      These responsibilities include:

      • Provide Pharmaceutics strategy and laboratory support to various staged Discovery projects from early lead optimization to candidate selection.
      • Efficiently manage time and prioritize project requests to ensure optimal support of projects across Discovery
      • Engage with and seek external collaborators to enhance ViiV’s Pipeline and the use of the latest pharmaceutics technologies.
      • Responsible for delivering high-quality written contributions to technical documents, reports, and maintaining electronic lab notebooks.
      • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with key stakeholders on Discovery project teams to ensure strategic alignment.

      Basic Qualifications:

      We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

      • MS Degree (3-5 years’ experience) or PhD (0-1 years’ experience) in Pharmaceutics or Pharmaceutical Sciences Demonstrated ability to characterize physicochemical properties of compounds and design and execute formulation studies with appropriate analyses and interpretation.
      • Provide Pharmaceutics strategy and support to enable project progression, either in drug discovery and/or development.
      • Ability to manage Pharmaceutics/Formulation-related project resources and budgets.
      • Experience working in multi-disciplinary or matrixed teams.
      • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate

      Preferred Qualifications:

      If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

      • Experience working in cross-matrix teams, with demonstrated experience in project milestone delivery
      • Excellent communication skills and collaboration as demonstrated through publication and/or external interactions (e.g., university collaborations, speaking invitations, etc.)
