      WHO YOU ARE:
      The Investigator IV performs complex (journey-level) investigative work. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

      WHAT YOU WILL DO:
      The ideal candidate must have a secure, dedicated workspace with Internet service, ability to maintain a reliable consistent work schedule and be available for weekly meetings and group collaboration via Microsoft Teams and other applications during regular business hours.Will be required to travel up to 75% of the time. Reliable transportation is a must.

      YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO:
      -Conduct complex on-site investigations/inspections for compliance with the child labor laws involving employers, minors, parents, school administrators, and local law enforcement agencies.
      -Define scope and objective of investigations.
      -Determine appropriate use of interview, interrogation, and other investigative techniques and maintains investigative objectivity.
      -Interview employers / children via telephone or in person, using appropriate techniques.
      -Perform educational outreach with employers, schools and community groups.
      -Work involves flexibility in work week and daily work schedule.
      -May travel extensively (approximately 70-75% of time) of which approximately 25 - 30% is for overnight travel.
      -May be called to serve as a witness and provide testimony in administrative and/or judicial proceedings.
      -Other duties as assigned.

      YOU QUALIFY WITH:
      -Two years of full-time experience performing auditing or investigating work; or unemployment insurance claims examiner tasks; or gathering of information, interviewing, counseling or in the instruction, demonstration, and interpretation of policies in a public or private enterprise.
      -Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position.

      YOU ARE A GREAT FIT WITH:
      -Recent Wage and Hour experience.
      -Investigation experience.
      -Bilingual; Spanish / English
      -Prior experience working in a government office.
      -Performs tasks independently; and organizes and prioritizes tasks.
      -Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills.
      -Meet strict deadlines.
      -Personal computer experience, including word processing and spreadsheet software.
      -Experience interpreting complex agency policies and procedures, including analyzing information gathered and adjudicating determinations according to laws, rules and policies.
      -Ability to perform tasks independently or as a cooperative work group.
      -Ability to organize and prioritize tasks, good oral and written communications.
      -Strong interviewing skills.
