      Req#: 8100

At Arcadis we focus on attracting, retaining and developing people who share our passion and commitment to improve quality of life. In return we offer you the opportunity to transform your world and the world around you, that could be through client work, upskilling yourself, championing equality and inclusion or getting involved in charity work, to name just a few. Our people value different perspectives, they care about the sustainability of our planet and dare to shape the future.

One of our core values is ‘people first’, and supported by our Lovinklaan foundation, we invest in you for the long term, to ensure you reach your full potential. You’ll have the opportunity to own your career and work on industry-defining projects, finding solutions to real challenges that make a difference to people’s lives. You’re encouraged to have a growth mindset and are given the space to develop personally and professionally, building a flexible career that works for you.

      Role description:

If you’re a Management Consultant with a successful background gained within Consultancy, and a desire to achieve your career potential, read on. Our Infrastructure Financial Institutions Advisory team delivers the highest value Mergers, Acquisitions and Disposals (M&A) services for clients across any form of infrastructure. Although the work is termed “technical”, it is strategic, exceptionally varied and touches organisation design, business planning, market development, commercial management, supply chain improvement, process improvement and asset management. Due to a significant number of recently awarded commissions we are looking for several talented individuals to join the team and are especially keen to hear from individuals from Consultant to Principal level.

Whatever your background, you will join an entrepreneurial team that is growing fast. With the Infrastructure Financial Institutions team, you have the chance to be part of building a business, where most of our work involves high profile infrastructure assets and our clients are amazing names like Macquarie, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley. Every job is different and you will be regularly exposed to people that are generally board members of Arcadis’ largest clients. Most of our commissions are overseas but managed from the UK and generally working from Arcadis offices or from home. Overseas projects are generally in Europe, but also occasionally in the Middle East, Asia, Africa and the Americas.

The Management Consultant will be a key player within Arcadis by supporting the development and delivery of best-in-class M&A advisory commissions. The successful candidate should bring some relevant experience, but it is more important that you are creative, have an intellectual approach, and have an excellent command of written English. We are looking for someone who is analytical, able to process and synthesise information quickly and capable of reaching a conclusion. You also need to be a consummate team player, able to appreciate and value the input of your colleagues while occasionally working under extreme time pressure.

The team’s offer to the market is unique – and comments from clients frequently include words such as “amazing” and “we really like what you do”. These words are a pleasure to hear, but especially sweet when you consider how new the team is. Management consultants who want to develop a specialism in a particular sector can do this within this team and in a setting where they will address broad business aspects in areas beyond capex.

The team is an excellent team, is highly supportive, collaborative and diverse in many ways although increasing all of these characteristics is always welcome; the team is recognised in the market for the quality of its people. Beyond expertise in one or more of our core consulting disciplines, you will need a strong intellect, the ability to simplify the highly complex and a talent for showing clients that we have the right solutions to their most pressing issues.

      Role accountabilities:

      • Senior/Principal Consultants must be able to act as a workstream resource on multiple concurrent projects and be accountable for the agreed deliverables
      • Can work independently and with the guidance of more experienced consultants
      • Highly flexible and quickly grasp new ideas and concepts on a project
      • Articulate in front of the client
      • Use evidence-based analysis to identify root-cause problems and articulate potential solutions
      • Design and carry out the analysis required to resolve issues / problems and support the business case for those solutions
      • Must contribute to internal team building and, at Senior / Principal Level, proposition development activities
      • Flexible in terms of daily work patterns as M&A work has large peaks and troughs

      Qualifications & Experience:

      • Experience/ content knowledge and demonstrable track record of delivering business change implementation projects in at least one of the following Infrastructure sectors: Energy (including renewables), utilities or transportation
      • Content knowledge and practice of at least one of the following expertise areas: business strategy, business planning, economic regulation, asset strategy & management, supply chain management, operational improvement and cost reduction, organisation design, target operating model
      • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline
      • Highly numerate and analytical (quantitative/ qualitative)
      • Excellent written English but preferably with other European languages. (German is especially interesting to us for upcoming commissions.)
      • Creative and innovative solutions design
      • Business acumen
      • Activity planning ability
      • Facilitation and influencing skills
      • Excellent presentation skills, smart and good business etiquette
      • Ability to deal well with ambiguity and new content in a very broad range of situations
      • Proven project delivery skills
      • Proficient in MS Office
      • Excellent communication skills - ability to present formal/ informal findings in a clearly defined and persuasive manner
      • Ability to engage and influence at all levels of stakeholder, both internally and externally
      • The team is based mainly in the UK and Europe but when consultants gain expertise in a particular asset there is an opportunity for occasionally worldwide travel
