      Job Description

      This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to New York Asset Management, New York City, NY, three times per week, at minimum.

      The Role

      General Motors Asset Management is looking for an ambitious, self-driven candidate to join the Public Markets team as an Investment Analyst. The team member will assist in overseeing externally managed investment strategies within public equity and fixed income asset classes. The team member will be asked to conduct due diligence on external investment managers, to develop communication materials for senior management, and will be responsible for data-driven analysis supporting external management oversight. This position requires considerable interaction with various internal departments (e.g., Legal, Risk Management, Accounting) as well as with external advisors and service providers (e.g., investment managers, trustees, record keepers). This role requires a high level of accuracy, resourcefulness, and initiative. Ideal candidate will be a self-starter with proven ability to work independently as well as within a small team structure. The following key elements describe the basic duties and responsibilities of the position and are not all-inclusive:

      What You'll Do

      • Collaborate on all aspects of external manager oversight process, including analysis of portfolio positioning, performance, organizational and market developments, and new manager due diligence

      • Utilize Bloomberg and other available systems to create monthly exposure and performance attribution reports

      • Develop and maintain detailed spreadsheets and reports and be proficient in compiling and analyzing large sets of data

      • Support ad-hoc requests related to markets and external manager portfolios

      • Assist with presentations to senior management on a range of topics, including preparation of semi-annual and quarterly investment commentary reports

      • Assist with evaluating fixed income and equity strategies within context of overall strategic investment initiatives of GM pension plans

      Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

      • Bachelors degree in a quantitative discipline such as Finance or Economics

      • Relevant graduate work (e.g., MBA, MFE) or CFA preferred

      • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience (investment management or investment operations, corporate role, treasury or management consulting/asset management firm) and/or familiarity with defined benefit/defined contribution plans

      • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, intellectually curious

      • Strong written and verbal skills; ability to document and communicate findings effectively to the investment team

      • Superior knowledge of Excel required

      • Willingness to work in a team-oriented environment that often requires multi-tasking

      • Comfortable working on high-profile assignments/ under tight deadlines

      • Attention to detail, integrity, and passion for excellence

      • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and manage time effectively

      • Demonstrated ability to identify/implement efficiency and process improvements

      What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

      • Knowledge of financial markets, portfolio theory and of fixed income and/or equity portfolio analysis and related software preferred, including Bloomberg

      • Master degree or CFA certification holder

      Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.

      • The salary range for this role is $83,800 - $133,900. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

      • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
