Contribute to the team’s initiatives in total fund risk and analytics capabilities
Provide research and recommendations that will be used to build models for quantitative risk assessment for the Total Fund
Partner with colleagues from Risk and Investment Divisions to design and implement risk analytical tools and provide risk analysis on an ad-hoc basis in a timely manner
Keep our in-house risk systems up to date to support new investment initiatives
Make recommendations on quantitative methodologies and designs, and contribute to mangers’ decision making
Make recommendations on implementation details related to technology and data
Undergraduate or graduate degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Quantitative Finance, Financial Engineering)
3+ years working experience in financial institutions
Intermediate programming in at least one language such as Python, C#, Matlab, C++, etc
CFA and/or FRM considered an asset
Proficient understanding of the Value-at-Risk ( VaR ) methodologies, including historical and Monte Carlo approaches
Intermediate understanding of multivariate statistics beneficial
Knowledge and understanding of financial products, such as futures, swaps, options, and other derivatives across asset classes
Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and work in a high-performing culture, under pressure and with time sensitive deadlines
Ability to work independently as well as to perform effectively in a team oriented environment
Strong communication skills (oral and written), and ability to clearly communicate complex subject matter to non-technical audience
Working knowledge of Modern Portfolio Theory preferred
Exposure to buy-side and total fund risk is a strong asset
Understanding of and experience with funding liquidity risk is beneficial
Proficiency in relational database (SQL), and exposure to MS OLAP a plus
Exposure to M achine L earning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an asset
Working knowledge of data visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI
Experience with Julia, Snowflake and Git a plus

The Opportunity
Exciting opportunity to join our Total Fund Risk & Analytics team within the Risk Division of the OTPP . The Total Fund Risk & Analytics team is responsible for the risk systems and methodologies, total fund risk assessment and reporting to management and the Board, as well as development of risk analytical tools. The team’s mandate covers a range of investment risks including asset and active risks, market and credit risks, liquidity risks, as well as developing and executing our liquidity risk governance framework. The ideal candidate will provide subject matter expertise in quantitative risk modelling and deliver solutions by means of technology and engineering.

Reporting to Director , Investment Risk , the Associate will have a wide range of opportunities working with quantitative risk professionals and computer engineers within the Risk Division and investment professionals across investment departments, such as Total Fund Management (TFM), as well as our functional partners, such as Risk Analytics and IT .
The Associate role will provide an outstanding opportunity to an individual looking to work in the field of quantitative finance and investment risk , leveraging and building on existing in-house risk systems and analytical platforms . They will gain exposure and participate in t otal fund modeling and implementation of cutting - edge investment risk and analytics while working with and learning from a team of highly qualified and multi-disciplinary quants and engineers .
