      The Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness (EMCR) is the lead coordinating agency in the provincial government for all emergency management activities. EMCR is responsible to British Columbians for leading the management of provincial level emergencies and disasters and supporting other authorities within their areas of jurisdiction. EMCR works directly with local governments, Indigenous Nations, provincial ministries and agencies, federal departments, other jurisdictions, industry and volunteers in hazard mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery.

      The ERA Integration and Support Officer leads the design, development, and maintenance of the EMCR Evacuee Registration and Assistance (ERA) Tool. They also provide system orientation, training and troubleshooting to end-users including internal staff, the public, First Nations, emergency responders and suppliers.

      Job Requirements:

      Education and Experience

      • Degree in business administration, public administration, emergency management, or related field OR Degree in another discipline with education/training in emergency management; OR an equivalent combination of emergency management-related education and training.
      • Three (3) years of experience in each of the following:
        • Providing analyses and integrating custom technology applications with business processes, and,
        • Leading and/or facilitating project teams and working with external partners and vendors to maintain business processes, and,
        • Orienting and/or training internal and external end-users on integrated business/technology processes, and,
        • Participating in and/or managing operations in an emergency coordination environment.
      • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.


      Preference may be given to candidates who have any of the following:

      • Experience working with and engaging with First Nations communities and/or organizations.
      • Experience administering evacuee registrations via a technology/software solution.
      • Experience working with Emergency Support Services programs.
      • Experience effectively communicating in one or more BC First Nations languages / dialects.


      Candidates must be willing and able to:

      • Be flexible regarding ongoing changes in responsibilities, assignments, and corporate structures.
      • Work on-call and work extended hours during emergency activations.
      • Travel occasionally.

      About this Position:
      Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home up to five (5) days a week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
      Flexible work options may not be available during emergency operations response periods.
      This is a temporary opportunity until June 30, 2025. This temporary opportunity may be extended or become permanent.
