      The Logan-Rogersville Middle School has an opening for a full-time In-School Suspension Supervisor.

      Job Title: In-School Suspension Supervisor

      Reports to: Principal

      Classification: Non-exempt / Support Staff

      Employment: 9 months / At-will

      Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the board’s policy on evaluation of support staff personnel.



      SUMMARY

      The In-School Suspension (ISS) Supervisor manages the daily operations of the ISS program and provides guidance and support to students in need of disciplinary and academic intervention. This position requires strong leadership skills, empathy, and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment. The ISS Supervisor will work closely with the Student Success Coordinator to implement strategies to promote student academic success and behavior management. This position is also responsible for providing direct instruction to students and maintaining an environment conducive to learning which is appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

        1. Supervision and Management:
          • Supervise and oversee the day-to-day operations of the In-School Suspension program, including the scheduling and monitoring of student behavior and academic work.
          • Ensure that ISS policies, procedures, and expectations are clearly communicated and consistently enforced.
        2. Student Support and Behavior Management:
          • Work closely with students assigned to ISS to address behavioral issues, provide guidance, and facilitate opportunities for reflection and growth.
          • Implement behavior management strategies, restorative practices, and conflict resolution techniques to promote positive outcomes for students.
          • Collaborate with the Student Success Coordinator, school counselors, social workers, and other support staff to develop individualized plans for students in need of additional assistance.
        3. Collaboration and Communication:
          • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to develop strategies for behavior, academic, and attendance improvement.
          • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student behavior, progress, and support needs.
          • Serve as a liaison between the ISS program and the Student Success Coordinator, providing updates, sharing information, and seeking guidance as needed.
        4. Data Collection and Reporting:
          • Collect and maintain accurate records of student attendance, behavior incidents, and interventions within the ISS program.
          • Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement, and make recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of the ISS program.
          • Prepare regular reports for the Student Success Coordinator and school administration to communicate ISS program outcomes and impact.
        5. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
        6. Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
        7. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
        8. Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.

        9. Provides instruction to students.
        10. Establishes and maintains a positive classroom environment to promote learning.

        11. Implements effective teaching techniques, strategies and skills to meet instructional objectives of curriculum goals.

        12. Participates in professional development activities.
        13. Maintains confidential nature of all school-related matters.
        14. Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor or Superintendent.

      QUALIFICATIONS

      Background Checks

      Clearance on all background checks required by law that is satisfactory to the Administration.

      Education/Experience

      Required: 60 college hours or alternative method for receiving substitute certificate.

      Preferred: Bachelors Degree

      Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

      Required: Valid DESE Substitute Certificate

      Preferred: Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate



      SKILLS AND ABILITIES

      Language

      Employee is expected to be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking.

      Computation

      Ability to do basic mathematical calculations and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

      Reasoning

      Employee is expected to be proficient in investigating, fact finding, problem-solving and interpretation of data.

      Technology

      Employee is expected to be proficient in various hardware and software essential to the position.

      Physical Requirements

      The individual who holds this position is regularly required to walk, hear and speak as a major function of the job. Must have close moderate and distance vision ability. Prolonged computer use can be expected.

      Physical requirements also include, but are not limited to, sitting (normal seated position), standing, walking (level or uneven surface), bending/twisting neck, bending/twisting at the waist, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, reaching, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), carrying objects (up to 50 lbs.) while walking, pushing, pulling, presence of heat (summer high temperatures, high humidity, ovens, furnaces, etc.), presence of cold (winter low temperatures, walk-in refrigerator/freezer).

      Hours / Attendance / Travel

      Beginning and ending work hours will be established by the supervisor in relation to the student workload. Attendance is Monday through Friday and flexible with required student contact hours. In-district travel may be necessary due to grade level configuration.
