      Job Description:

      The Senior IT Data/Database Analyst will primarily support Department of Revenue Oracle database administration, ensuring high availability, performance, and security of critical systems. This role focuses on managing, maintaining, and optimizing databases, supporting database security, architecture, and applying patches and updates. The ideal candidate will also collaborate with IT teams and business users to ensure data systems operate reliably and efficiently, have the ability to troubleshoot database problems independently, and possess strong communication and problem-solving skills.

      Examples of work include:

      Database Administration & Support

      • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Oracle databases.
      • Apply Oracle database patches, upgrades, and security fixes.
      • Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle Application Express (APEX) and related tools.
      • Monitor and tune database performances, troubleshoot and resolve database issues, including performance bottlenecks and system outages.
      • Implement backup and recovery strategies and perform regular database maintenance.
      • Ensure data integrity, availability, and security in compliance with IT policies.

      Database Design & Development

      • Design and implement logical and physical database structures.
      • Create and maintain database objects such as tables, indexes, views, procedures, and triggers.
      • Assist development teams with SQL optimization and schema design.
      • Analyze and troubleshoot complex queries

      General Duties:

      • Consults with end users, peers, and management on data/database issues
      • Assists and mentors peers and subordinates

      Collaboration & Support

      • Work with IT staff and business stakeholders to understand data/database needs
      • Assist and mentor junior staff on database tools and best practices
      • Document database architecture, configurations, procedures, and standards


      Requiements / Qualifications:

      Minimum Qualifications: Associate Degree in Computer Science/IT and three years related experience, two of which must be as Data/Database Analyst.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Hands-on experience with:
        • Oracle Database 19c and higher
        • Oracle APEX
        • RMAN, SSMS, SQL Developer
      • Experience automating DBA tasks via PL/SQL, PowerShell, or Bash scripting
      • Experience with export/import of database schemas, tables, and other objects between environments using Oracle Data Pump or SQL Server tools
      • Familiarity with database monitoring and database development tools (SolarWinds, SQL Toolbelt etc.)
      • Knowledge of Nebraska Tax Programs
