      Job Description:

      This position works independently on complex tasks. The main areas for departmental IT support include, but are not limited to, the following:

      IT INFRASTRUCTURE SUPPORT:

      • Evaluates and recommends changes to workstation hardware, software, and configuration to simplify management, reduce costs, and maintain standards
      • Develops and implements, in coordination with unit leadership, a sustainable IT infrastructure management plan that helps maintain standards
      • Manages desktop, workstation, and server infrastructure lifecycle from procurement through end-of-life
      • Administers building network services as required (including monitoring and maintenance, administration of equipment, management of DHCP/DNS/IPAM, etc)
      • Installs, configures, and supports Windows, MacOS, and Linux hardware, operating systems, and applications
      • Works with faculty, staff, and students in resolving systems-related issues, concerns, and problems in a timely manner
      • Administers and supports video conferencing equipment and services

      IT SECURITY POLICY COMPLIANCE AND EDUCATION:

      • Ensures IT infrastructure containing export-controlled, HIPAA, FERPA, or other restricted data is policy compliant and conforms to controls agreed upon during risk assessments
      • Works with unit and college Information Security Administrators (ISAs), Information Security Manager (ISMs) and UF Information Security & Compliance (ISC) to implement standard practices for UF and HWCOE security policies, standards, guidelines, and administrative processes
      • Under direction of the College IT Director, participates in answering the UF CyberSecurity Framework (UFCSF) quarterly surveys and implements controls identified through the UFCSF to improve security processes within the unit
      • Leads unit data identification/classification, data loss prevention (DLP) and risk management efforts as per UF policy
      • Resolves security incidents as per UF, HWCOE, and unit standards (involving unit ISAs, ISMs, ISC and any other needed parties)
      • Implements security policy, standard, guideline, and administrative processes awareness and education as needed
      • Ensures that required training is completed and up-to-date for themselves and subordinate employees

      UFIT SERVICES AND HOSTING SUPPORT:

      • Administers and supports UFIT email services (UF Exchange (UFX), GatorMail (o365), L-Soft Listservs and other mail-related services)
      • Administers and supports GatorCloud services (Office 365, Dropbox, and Google Workspace for Education)
      • Administers and supports UF directory services in UFAD, AzureAD, kerberous and other directories utilized by UF (including user, computer, application, and group policy objects)
      • Administers and supports printers/multi-function devices (e.g. UF PrintSmart program)
      • Administers and supports UFIT hosting services at Infrastructure and Communication Technology Services (ICT) and Research Computing (RC)

      ADMINISTRATIVE AND OTHER DUITES:

      • Administers and maintains an automated ticketing system for tracking of support requests
      • Participates in HWCOE and UFIT committees and user groups as needed
      • Acts as a myAssets IT Contact for inventory tracking
      • Author and issue reports about their embedded unit summarizing day-to-day activities, ongoing projects, planned projects, and major goals as requested (minimally once a year)
      • May delegate work to any additional IT support staff assigned to the unit for additional assistance and backup
      • Maintains expertise in current IT topics by attending seminars/classes/meetings/etc and reading technical periodicals, websites, and other related media for continuous technical improvement

      MANAGES AN IT FUNCTION/SERVICE FOR ALL COLLEGE UNITS. FOR THIS SERVICE:

      • Collaborates with the College IT Director and College IT Associate Director in strategic planning and implementation
      • Creates and documents operational standards and procedures
      • Trains and coordinates unit IT staff in accordance with operational standards and procedures
      • Implements standards and procedures for all HWCOE units coordinating with the
      • Manages staff assigned to the collegewide service
      • Coordinates with UF units (Telecommunications, Infrastructure & Communications Technology (ICT), Integrated Risk Management (IRM), Privacy Office, Procurement, and Academic Technologies) and 3rd party vendors in areas associated with the IT service
      • Develops metrics and produces reports to measure success and improve operations
      • Manage the day-to-day tasks of subordinate IT staff associated with the service.

      OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED BY SUPERVISOR, SUCH AS:

      • Provided training in the use of new infrastructure, services, and applications as they are added to the computing environment
      • Communicate UF, College, and unit IT topics to unit employees and students in a suitable and understandable manner
      • Move IT assets between locations as needed
      Expected Salary:

      $90,000-$100,000; commensurate with qualifications and experience

      Minimum Requirements:

      A bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

      Preferred Qualifications:
      • Knowledge and experience installing, configuring, administering, and troubleshooting various operating systems (specifically Red Hat and Ubuntu Linux, Microsoft Windows and Mac OSX).
      • Knowledge and experience administering systems in an enterprise environment (specifically active directory, group policy, SharePoint, Exchange, Office 365, and endpoint management tools (managed anti-virus, Microsoft Configuration Manager, InTune, cloud backup, etc).
      • Knowledge and experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting common desktop software and office productivity suites (i.e. Microsoft Office).
      • Ability to troubleshoot computer hardware and software problems (including, but not limited to, Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint, Office 365, and Endpoint Management suites).
      • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and mentor IT staff.
      • Ability to coordinate and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
      • Ability to effectively interpret written guidelines and policies.
      • Ability to work independently with minimal daily supervision.
      • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
      • Ability to work well with others / establish and maintain effective working relationships.
