      About this opportunity:

      Collaborating with the Field Data Capture (FDC) Product Manager, the Systems Analyst will perform technical application support, development, and configuration activities in accordance with Cenovus’s application standards and best practices. This role may be engaged by Solution Architects and Business Analysts to assist in solution design efforts including analysis, design, and architecture. They collaborate with Project teams to ensure deliverables are built in accordance with defined quality standards. In addition, this position participates in tier 2 or 3 application support activities including the assessment and delivery of application upgrades and patches.

      This is an office-based position based in downtown Calgary, AB.

      Responsibilities:

      • Analyze, configure, architect, implement and develop specialized software based on stated requirements.

      • Identify continuous improvement opportunities and implement improvements that follow IT standards, practices, and processes.

      • Perform System Administration of a solution to enhance performance, and availability.

      • Assist in project work when requested by Project Managers and keep them up to date on the status of pertinent tasks.

      • Analyze requirements and provide recommendations on the best solution or path forward.

      • Collaborate with Business SMEs, Application Solution Architects, Portfolio Architects, Business Analysts, Release Coordinators and other technical resources on the delivery of application functionality.

      • Collaborate with Cyber Security on risk assessments and mitigation.

      • Sustain competence of field data capture business functions, systems, processes, capabilities.

      • Lead all aspects of sub portfolio support (health, service provider escalation, problem owner).

      • Maintain healthy relationships with key partners for operational, day to day activities.

      • Support Business Partner, Enterprise Architect and Portfolio Architect on technical strategies.

      • Assess and deliver application upgrades, patches, code promotions and supervise impacts.

      • Design and development of proof of concept and prototypes of solutions.

      • Work with business testers on the execution of test plans, debugging and application of subsequent fixes.

      • Carry out testing of disaster recovery aligning to the Business Impact Assessments for applicable applications.

      • Support IT control activities (SOX, Cyber, PCI) and support audits.

      • Manage system lifecycles (tech currency, license management).

      • Assist in IT Asset Management activities including application lifecycle planning, optimization, and renewals.

      • Assist in validation of support documentation currency and accuracy.

      • Assist in operational demand intake including analysis and participating in prioritization and planning.

      • Support projects by providing technical domain expertise.

      Qualifications:

      • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

      • College diploma or university degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.

      • Minimum 2 years’ direct experience in application support, application development, application configuration.

      • Experience working with IT in an oil and gas domain is an asset.

      • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

      • Effective negotiation skills, able to facilitate collaboration between team members with differing opinions.
