Job Description

- Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas.
- Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors using brooms, mops, and powered scrubbing and waxing machines.
- Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies using a vacuum cleaner.
- Dust furniture and equipment.
- Polishes metalwork such as fixtures and fittings.
- Washes walls, ceiling, and woodwork.
- Washes windows, door panels, and sills.
- Empties wastebaskets.
- Transports trash and waste to the disposal area. Removes recycled material from offices and hallways to designated areas.
- Replenishes bathroom supplies.
- Responsible for working with a positive team spirit and producing quality work.
- Responsible for appropriate conduct and demeanor as dictated by Didlake Policy
- Responsible for following safety standards and guidelines in the proper use of the equipment and other activities.
- Other duties as assigned by Lead Worker or Supervisor.
- High School diploma/GED or 6 months previous custodial work experience.
- Ability to carry out simple but detailed instructions.
- Ability to communicate with co-workers.
- Must possess a positive team member attitude.
- Ability to interact effectively with employees with disabilities.
- Ability to work in environments with narrow, moving, and/or slippery surfaces.

The Janitor cleans and keeps in an orderly condition factory working areas and washrooms, or premises of an office, apartment house, or commercial or other establishments. Duties involve a combination of the following: sweeping, mopping or scrubbing and polishing floors; removing chips, trash, and other refuse; dusting equipment, furniture, or fixtures; polishing metal fixtures or trimmings; providing supplies and minor maintenance services; and cleaning lavatories, showers, and restrooms.
