      DESCRIPTION

      THE AGENCY Alameda County General Services Agency (GSA) delivers a host of logistical support services to County agencies and partners from maintenance of facilities and County fleet to energy and environmental management services, capital project management, procurement services, and clean commute and recycling programs. THE POSITION Under general supervision, plans, organizes, supervises, and inspects the work of Janitorial Services staff in County buildings; instructs, trains, and evaluates staff; and perform related work as required.       MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

      EITHER I: Experience: The equivalent of four years (4) of full-time experience in the classification of Janitor, or in an equivalent or higher-level janitorial classification, in the Alameda County classified service. OR II: Experience: The equivalent of two years (2) of full-time experience in the classification of Lead Janitor or Lead Janitor, Detention Facilities. OR III: Experience: The equivalent of four (4) years of full-time janitorial experience, one (1) year of which must have been in a lead or supervisory capacity. License: Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator’s license. Special Requirements: Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance. Must be available by phone after hours, on weekends, and holidays for emergency purposes. NOTE:\tThe Civil Service Commission may modify the above Minimum Qualifications in the announcement of an examination.

      KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

      The most suitably qualified candidates will possess the following competencies: Knowledge of: Principles of supervision, personnel management, and training. Modern janitorial methods. Principles of sanitation and safety in janitorial work. Proper inventory, use, and care of equipment, materials, and supplies. Safety measures necessary in a secured facility. Ability to: Supervise, train, and instruct others. Plan, prioritize, and organize work. Make effective decisions. Exercise leadership and interpersonal sensitivity. Test and evaluate products and equipment. Keep accurate records. Communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Analyze and problem-solve. Work effectively with others. Use computer software, i.e., Word and Outlook. Work effectively and safely with a wide variety of individuals in a high-security environment.

      EXAMINATION COMPONENTS

      The examination will consist of the following steps: A review of applicants' applications to verify possession of minimum requirements. Those candidates who possess the minimum requirements for the class will move on to the next step in the examination process. Anoral examination which will be weighted as 100% of the candidate’s final examination score. The oral examination may contain situational exercises. Candidates must attain a qualifying rating of each portion of this examination. WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE CHANGES TO THE ANNOUNCED EXAMINATION STEPS.
