      Our Tech Team at Santander UK is growing, and we are looking for a Java Developer (Software Engineer) , you will play a key role in developing and ensuring projects (change initiatives) meet objectives on time.

      The difference you’ll make.

      • Identifying, assessing, managing, and reports risks, taking proactive personal responsibility for ‘doing the right thing’ in compliance with regulatory requirements and our frameworks and policies.
      • Providing comprehensive information to supervisors on time in case of appearance of difficulties for risk elimination or mitigation
      • Managing defects, and resolution of issues identified during systems implementation and code implementation.
      • Carrying an eye for detail for any code efficiencies and problem solving
      • Participating in the agile full based project software development life-cycle including technical analysis, documentation, development, testing and code reviews
      • Contributing to the development of project (changes) estimates as required.
      • Liaising with architecture and other teams to ensure a realisable design that is fit for purpose

      What you’ll bring.

      • Working knowledge of applications, cloud strategy, infrastructure lifecycles, and incident management.
      • Strong Core Java (J2EE) development skills
      • Good knowledge of WebSphere, EJBs and other J2EE components
      • Good development skills and experience with JavaScript, Java, Spring Boot, Spring, Micro services, REST API and SQL Skills
      • Experience working with technical documents of architecture governance structures.
      • Knowledge of principles, concepts, models, standards and good coding practices regarding the duty, process, or specific project under their responsibility

      It would also be nice for you to have.

      • Knowledge of communication management systems used within the bank (e.g. Java, Scala, Tibco, Quadient)
      • Execution of application programming, analysis, operation, or maintenance tasks, preferably within the banking sector.
      • Actively demonstrates cross team collaboration, sharing learning and best practices to contribute to overall team effectiveness.
      • Good understanding of using Kafka Streams across premises and Cloud

      This role is based in Milton Keynes and our current expectation is at least 2 days in an office every week. There is also an out of hours support aspect to the role which is served on a rota.

      1st Stage – Technical Interview – this will be a 30-60 min technical interview with one of the team .

      2nd Stage – A one-hour formal interview where we will ask both technical and competency-based questions. This can be done virtually or face to face depending on your situation.
