    • PRIMARY TASKS & MAJOR ACTIVITIES

      Responsible for planning lessons, carrying out effective instruction, and evaluating student progress toward learning goals. Accountable for creating a positive and productive classroom learning environment. Must be able to work effectively as a member of a Professional Learning Community in a team environment. Participate in District and Building Professional Development opportunities. Engaging the learner through novel and insightful approaches to Communication Arts instruction. Implementation of Junior High Communication Arts curriculum. Communicate effectively with parents on student comprehension and progress. Support the Jr. High School building improvement plan. Participate in District and Building Professional Development opportunities.

      EDUCATIONAL/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

      Missouri certification in English or Language Arts at the 7-8 grade level or Middle School. Must have a solid understanding of the Missouri Learning Standards and best practice instructional strategies. Must have a strong knowledge of Missouri Assessment Program (MAP). Experience in middle school instruction preferred. Willingness to collaborate with peers. Willingness to understand and support the District’s Comprehensive School Improvement Plan. Must successfully pass a background check and drug test that are satisfactory to the Board of Education.
