- Designing and optimizing warehouse layout and storage systems to maximize space utilization and facilitate efficient material flow.
- Implementing and maintaining inventory management systems to track and control stock levels and intake/outflow of goods.
- Analyzing and improving material handling processes, such as picking, packing, and shipping, to enhance productivity and reduce errors.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including logistics, procurement, and production, to ensure seamless integration of warehouse operations with overall supply chain activities.
- Planning and executing continuous improvement initiatives to streamline operations, reduce costs, and enhance quality and safety standards.
- Managing and training warehouse staff to ensure compliance with operational procedures, safety guidelines, and quality standards.
- Utilize statistical analysis, data modeling, and other analytical techniques to identify patterns, trends, and areas for improvement.
- Interpret and summarize complex data to provide actionable insights to warehouse managers and stakeholders using excel, MS office tools, etc.
- Gather and analyze data from multiple sources, including warehouse management systems, inventory records, and labor productivity reports from all departments in the company.
- Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and pain points in the workflow through process mapping and analysis.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of existing processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction.
- Establish performance metrics and KPIs to monitor warehouse operations, such as order fulfillment rates, inventory accuracy, on-time delivery, and labor productivity.
- Collaborate with warehouse managers, supervisors, and frontline staff to gather insights and feedback on operational issues.
- Identify opportunities for automation, technological upgrades, or process redesign to address root causes.
- Work closely with warehouse managers, supervisors, and staff to understand their perspectives and experiences.
- Facilitate meetings, interviews, and workshops to gather insights of 3rd party companies and or contractors.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as IT, supply chain, and logistics, to ensure alignment and successful implementation of process improvements.
- Develop actionable recommendations based on data analysis and insights gathered.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to implement process improvements, ensuring smooth execution and change management.
- Monitor the effectiveness of implemented changes and make necessary adjustments as needed.
- Analyze data sets to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction.
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to warehouse and material handling operations.
- Plan and implement supply chain enhancement projects.
- Discover the most cost-effective shipping modes and schedules.
- Maintaining effective communication and relationships with all individuals at Midwest Goods Inc and help foster trusting relationships with business partners.

The Junior Industrial Engineer Intern plays a pivotal and essential role in optimizing processes, improving operational efficiency, and driving cost reduction initiatives within the organization. In this dynamic and hands-on role, the intern will be responsible for conducting comprehensive analysis of production methods, meticulously identifying areas ripe for enhancement, and implementing innovative solutions to bolster productivity and elevate overall quality standards.

This job operates in a warehouse environment where the noise level can be loud. The employee is frequently exposed to fast-moving carts and bins throughout the warehouse.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and
arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time internship position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, (Specify work hours).
Travel:
Travel will be required between multiple office buildings.
Preferred Education and Experience
● Master’s degree in industrial and systems engineering, Computer Science, or related field. Master's degree or certification in systems analysis or project management is a plus.
● Strong analytical skills, with proficiency in data analysis tools and statistical techniques.
● Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and other analytical software.
● Familiarity with process mapping techniques and process improvement methodologies.
● Excellent communication skills to effectively convey complex information to stakeholders at various levels.
● Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
● Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
● Experience in warehouse operations or supply chain management is preferred
