      Fifth Judicial District has an immediate opening for a Judicial Specialist 2 in the Dallas County Clerk of Court office in Adel, Iowa. This position will be assigned to District Associate Judge Erica Crisp, in addition to working with other Judges according to the needs of the district.


      The starting salary for new State employees is expected to be at the base of the pay range. The starting pay for this position is $18.05 – 26.41/hour


      Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00A – 4:30P

      Under the direct supervision of the Clerk of Court, candidates will have the desire to learn the complexities of our court case processing system using our statewide Electronic Document Management System (EDMS). Responsibilities of this position include providing clerical support for Judges, the jury management program, coordinate court schedules, provide support during trials, maintain a positive and professional demeanor, and interact effectively with various stakeholders, including attorneys, court personnel, and the public. Travel to other counties in the district may be required.

      This is a non-merit position with the Iowa Judicial Branch. Candidates must follow the instructions in the To Apply section.

      Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise.

      Graduation from an accredited high school (or High School Equivalency) and two (2) years of successful completion of accredited post high school education in business, paralegal, computer, legal assistant or related program. Two (2) years of professional office experience in business, court or legal work or a related area with one (1) year of the experience involving customer service. At the discretion of the appointing authority additional years of experience may be substituted for the required post high school education.

      Or, the successful completion of additional years of education (i.e., Bachelor’s Degree) may be substituted for years of experience on the basis that successful completion of thirty (30) semester hours or academic equivalent equals one year of experience. Education cannot be substituted for customer service experience.
