  The Role

  BuzzFeed has an opening for a Junior Accountant for our NY office location (this position will be in a hybrid work environment, working from the office and home). As a member of our fast-paced team, you will be an integral part of the Accounting team to support BuzzFeed’s advancing business. A proactive, can-do attitude and a sense of ownership are the key attributes of this role. Additionally, as with any financial responsibility position, a sharp eye for detail and confidentiality are paramount.

  Reporting to our Chief Accounting Officer, you will be responsible for providing support to the accounting team across all divisions, entities, and locations. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, be well-versed in accounting principles, and be able to work comfortably with numbers and attention to detail. The role will also receive exposure to the financial statement close process and reporting requirements globally, compliance with internal controls, and various analyses, in addition to day-to-day tasks.

  You Will

  • Maintain bank account transaction data on a daily basis.
  • Initiate journal entries associated with bank fees, etc.
  • Support the AR & AP processes.
  • Assist with the reconciliation of bank statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team on data collection for the quarterly and annual audit testing selections.
  • Complete special ad-hoc projects and reporting requests as needed.

  You Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or a relevant field.
  • 1-2 years of accounting experience
  • Good understanding of accounting and financial principles and practices.
  • Netsuite experience is a plus
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Ability to complete work to deadlineS
