- MBChB or equivalent.
- MRCEM part A or equivalent
- ALS or ACLS successfully completed and in date face to face course (not online only)
- 1 year full time regular hospital experience at FY2 level or above (or comparable experience gained in part-time posts)
- Audit/ Quality Improvement experience (meaningful and personal involvement)
- ATLS successfully completed, in date face to face course (not online only)
- APLS (or EPLS) successfully completed, in date face to face course (not online only)
- 4 months or more UK (NHS) or Republic of Ireland experience
- 4 months or more Emergency Medicine experience
- Teaching experience (other than informal bedside teaching)

Job summary
We are welcoming enthusiastic, highly motivated individuals to apply to work and train in our busy Emergency Department with Major Trauma Centre accreditation (and new Greater Manchester Major Trauma Hospital opening soon, which will receive major trauma patients from across Greater Manchester)
This post is particularly suited for applicants seeking a career in Emergency Medicine or associated acute specialties and may be of particular interest to those looking for additional Emergency Medicine experience to complement their training prior to ACCS or portfolio pathway application. Successful applicants will be supported by an educational supervisor and be assisted in compiling evidence of good practice and competencies to augment their portfolio. You will also be granted educational development time for educational and non-clinical activities
Successful candidates will share the middle grade (SHO) rota with a dynamic group of clinical fellows and ACCS, GPST, Foundation Year trainees. You will be supported and supervised by a dedicated group of consultants, Advanced Care Practitioners, Specialty Trainees, and Senior Clinical Fellows. You will also work along our very experienced ENP's, nursing workforce and Physiotherapy PractitionersYou will have completed a Foundation programme (or equivalent) and be fully registered with a licence to practice. Ideally you will have a minimum of 4 months of experience in Emergency Medicine in the UK and more than 6 months of NHS experience
Main duties of the job
Salford Royal has Major Trauma Centre accreditation as part of the Greater Manchester Trauma Collaborative, receiving patients with major trauma from the whole of the Greater Manchester conurbation. It is a regional Neurosurgical and Hyperacute Stroke Centre, a hub for regional Renal services and a national centre for Intestinal Failure.Salford Royal Organisation is at the forefront of clinical excellence and a leader in academic medicine research and teaching. We have close links to Manchester and Sheffield Universities, and to the Trauma Audit Research Network. We are proud of our Departmental teaching programme, which includes simulation training and monthly journal club. We have an active Quality Improvement and Audit programme which you would be expected to be involved with.
Children are assessed and managed in a separate but co-located Paediatric ED with adjoining short stay observation unit (The PANDA unit). The PANDA unit is staffed separately from the adult Emergency Department. However, ED clinicians will be expected to be able to manage paediatric presentations as part of this role.
The post is for 6 months only, but with potential for extension beyond this depending on progression, and if mutually desired and agreed.
