- Basic Medical Degree
- Registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the date of application
- ALS certificate
- Minimum 4 weeks experience in the NHS
- Ability to apply sound clinical knowledge and judgement to problems
- Ability to prioritise clinical need
- Ability to maximise safety and minimise risk
- Recognition of, and ability to undertake the initial management of, an acutely ill patient
- Successful completion of foundation year 1 competencies or equivalent
- Successful completion of foundation year 2 competencies or equivalent
- Experience of teaching medical students and junior doctors
- To have the ability and willingness to teach at all levels and to all groups of staff
- Training in teaching methods
- Evidence of successful feedback from teaching
- Evidence of participation in CME/CPD in the last 12 months
- Maintenance of a CPD diary or portfolio
- Awareness of current issues in NHS
- Committed to and understands the principles of clinical governance
- Understands the principles outlined in the GMC document Good Medical Practice
- Understands the requirements of Medical Appraisal and Revalidation
- Active involvement in a clinical governance programme
- Demonstrates behaviour consistent with PROUD values (see appendix)
- Good time management skills
- Good oral communication skills
- Good written communication skills
- The applicant must demonstrate skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking the English language that enables effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues as set out in the GMC' good medical practice (2013).

Job summary
The appointment is to commence April 2024 for a fixed term period of 8 months. MBChB or equivalent is essential. The post does not award a National Training Number. As this post is not recognised as a 'training post', full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required. The duties of this post are equivalent to F2/ST1 level.
Main duties of the job
The duties include assisting in the day-to-day management of inpatients; attendance at Consultant ward rounds; prompt completion of e-discharge summaries; teaching medical students as directed; and attendance at clinical meetings.
Your hours will mainly be M-F (0900-1700), with participation in full-shift rota to be confirmed.
