- Ability to be flexible and work under stress.
- Previous experience using EMIS.
- UK Driving License and access to a car for community home visits.
- Appropriate for years of experience
- Interest in career in Geriatric Medicine

Job summary
We are seeking to appoint 5 Junior Clinical Fellows / Trust Grade doctors at Senior House Officer level in Community General Internal Medicine (Virtual Ward). The post is suitable for those that have completed Foundation or Core Medical training (or equivalent). The clinical responsibilities include day-to-day community Virtual Ward work and 1:5 weekend on-call cover for the Virtual Ward.
There will be a robust induction to community working and training on EMIS which is used in the community for documentation and prescribing. The senior oversight is a salaried GP working with the team Tuesday to Thursday 08:00 - 20:30, and a full-time consultant working Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:00. Senior cover outside of these hours will be via the on-call community consultant rota (weekends, Mon and Fri 17:00-20:30).
Main duties of the job
o Support daily senior Virtual Ward board rounds
o Undertake patient assessments for Urgent Community Response and Virtual Ward, by telephone, face-to-face (in patient's home) or using video-technology.
o Provide support and advice to multi-disciplinary team members, including community Rapid Response nurses, district nurses and FY2 doctors on rotation within the community team.
o Take part in the clinical governance activities.
o Liaise with GPs and other acute and community-based services for prompt patient referrals and hand over of the care of patients.
o Take part in regular educational activities (We encourage successful candidates to take part in quality improvement projects / audits / teaching sessions)
