      MAN CENTRAL EXECUTION TRADING

      The Central Trading team maximises the execution alpha within the investment process through market knowledge, trading specialisation, leveraging best in class execution technology and rigorous execution research and TCA.

      PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

      To provide execution and order placement services to Man's investment engines. For the avoidance of doubt, traders are not permitted to take any investment decisions.

      As a High Touch Trader, you will help manage our discretionary strategies and develop a best-in-class trading platform for the firm. You will be part of a multi asset high touch trading team, with a primary focus on a variety of credit instruments including but not limited to Single Name Corp Credit (IG, HY, Emerging), Cash & CDS, Converts and ABS.       RESPONSIBILITIES

      Specific Responsibilities

      • Help managing our discretionary trading strategies by maximising our execution platform and technology
      • Contribute to improvements across signal development, portfolio construction, risk management and trading
      • Drive development of our trading platform, infrastructure and technology
      • Use qualitative and quantitative analysis to improve performance of our discretionary strategies
      • Develop and maintain relationships with our counterparties.

      Day to Day Responsibilities

      • Executing trading activity across the business and relevant products
      • Liaising with sales traders/brokers on market movements
      • Predicting how markets will move and buying and selling accordingly
      • Informing all relevant parties for market flows and liquidity
      • Adding to the company’s understanding of market microstructure, transaction costs, participants and products in the exchange traded products and OTC space
      • Liaising and partnering with asset managers and analysts on execution implementation
      • Observing internal trading limits and any other restrictions on scope of delegated authority to act on behalf of designation fund/client
      • Liaising with asset managers on hedging strategy and portfolio construction where necessary
      • Managing the execution of subscriptions and redemptions
      • Coordinating the company’s involvement in primary offerings and secondary trading

      Regulatory and legal framework

      • Be aware of and act in accordance with the regulatory and legal framework governing the senior trader's activities, including in particular any relevant market abuse rules
      • To the extent applicable, understand and abide by relevant market risk limits and thresholds and prudential levels

      Policies and Procedures

      • Know, understand and comply with Man's Global Compliance policies and any internal procedures relevant to the senior trader's business activities and with the requirements set out in Man's Staff Handbook and Global Code of Ethics as well as any global, regional and local compliance manuals
      • Obtain appropriate authorisation to trade pursuant to the PM's recorded instructions
      • Report regularly to their appointed line manager
      • At the end of each day, ensure that all transactions for which the senior trader is responsible for executing, have been recorded in the trading system correctly
      • Report any potential regulatory concerns to Compliance and to the appointed line manager. This includes any market activity of a suspicious nature as well as known or suspected breaches of regulation, exchange rules or firm policy

      Best Execution

      • Continue to improve process to ensure Man meets its Best Execution obligations for Man's clients
      • Maximise alpha retention post investment decision through:

      - Robust framework for continuous evaluation and improvement of the execution process to minimise slippage and explicit trading costs

      - Application of quantitative methods combined with trading experience to decide and discuss with the PM, the optimal execution strategy to best match the PM’s trading and investment objectives

      Leverage Trading Technology

      • Develop trading technology to improve execution toolkit
      • Embrace technology to help automate workflow

      Broker Execution Evaluation/Review

      • Oversight of broker roster and ensuring proper allocation of flow keeping in mind metrics of broker performance, coverage model, execution research and operational efficiency
      • Feedback to executing brokers of areas of improvement, ranking etc.
      • Prime Broker relationship management, to maintain and optimise said relationships
      • Liaison with operations teams to ensure no disruption or backlog with the brokers resulting in process bottlenecks leading to missed opportunities on the execution front in the pursuit of best execution

      Operational & Workflow Considerations

      • Ability to raise/cancel an order ticket, based on the PM’s recorded instructions, if required (this should not be viewed as standard practise)
      • Continue to be able to view PM’s holdings
      • Assist Middle Office to ensure timely matching of trades
      • Liaison with stock loan desk

      COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE

      Key Skills

      • 1-2 years of experience trading in a financial institution or relevant credit technical experience
      • Knowledge of trading in a variety of credit instruments including but not limited to Single Name Corp Credit (IG, HY, EM), Cash & CDS, Converts, Loans and ABS
      • Experience analysing OTC data or Exchange Traded Data
      • Coding skills in a high-level programming language such as Python, or R, a plus but not necessary.
      • Strong academic record and a degree from a leading university
      • Hands-on and positive attitude, adaptability and resilience
      • Team player. Disciplined, customer-focused and results-driven
      • Attention to detail and disciplined. Able to work under pressure and in a high-paced environment
      • Ability to think quickly & logically in very high-pressure situations.
      • Intellectually robust with a keenly analytic approach to problem solving. Curious, entrepreneurial, and innovative, willing to get involved with technology and projects across the firm.
      • Strong inter-personal skills to enable communication across investment management teams and regions. Clear, concise, and transparent communicator.

      Execution Experts

      • Market microstructure specialists
      • Execution of hedging overlays/factor exposures based on discussions and recorded instructions from the PM
      • Exploring new venues and liquidity opportunities to add capacity to investment strategies
      • Exploring and suggesting new markets and working with the PMs to ensure implementation into the PMs’ investment management process to add capacity

      Marketplace Experts

      • Filtered market intelligence delivered to the PMs/Sectors/Risk
      • Understand market positioning, including micro and macro catalysts
      • Market colour, insight and ideas relayed to PMs in relation to potential investment opportunities for the PMs to make the investment decision
