Job summary
We are looking to appoint a Junior Sister or Junior Charge Nurse to work alongside the team . You will need strong interpersonal skills and a keen interest in caring for elderly patients and promoting independence and confidence to support patients to go home.
The Junior Sister or Charge nurse will support the Ward Manager in providing leadership, direction, and coordination of nursing care within the Elderly Care Ward. The post holder will contribute to the operational management of the ward, ensuring the delivery of high quality, safe, and effective care to older adults, many of whom may present with complex physical and cognitive needs.
Main duties of the job
As a junior sister you will take charge of the shift and work closely with the Ward manager and medical staff to plan and manage patient care and discharge planning.
You will work withthe multidisciplinary team , including the therapists , Consultant geriatrician and community services to enable a safe and timely discharge back into the community with further support if needed.
Excellent interpersonal skills are essential as you will be leading liaison with patients and their relatives.
You should be a registered nurse, experienced in the care of elderly patients on both days and nights. Previous experience of working within a medical area is essential
