      Job summary

      An exciting opportunity has arisen at the Royal Cornwall Hospital for an enthusiastic, motivated, and hardworking individual to join the team .

      You will be responsible for a quality service of food and beverages to our patients at ward level, following set procedures and specifications. This position requires flexibility to accommodate the needs of the service, good communication skills and a positive and professional attitude.

      Main duties of the job

      To be responsible for a quality service of food and beverages to our patients at ward level, following set procedures and specifications.

      To be responsible for kitchen cleaning and the standards of hygiene within the kitchens at ward level and ensuring that the service complies with Food Safety Legislation.

      You will ensure that high quality Food Hygiene and cleaning standards are maintained at all times.

      You will be required to work within a team and will need good communication skills to maintain working relationships within the team and present a positive and professional image to patients and visitors.

      Job description

      Job responsibilities

      To monitor temperature control procedures following set specification.

      Audit check dates and stock rotation of all food commodities within working areas.

      Maintain excellent personal hygiene and uniform standard.

      To observe correct use and care of equipment, reporting breakdowns or defects to ensure maximum efficiency and serviceability of all equipment used on site. Report faults/equipment failures to supervisors and management.

      Maintain excellent cleaning standards within all working areas following set specifications and cleaning schedules whilst complying with COSH data and training.

      Appropriate removal of food waste as per set specification using designated waste and recycling streams.

      Record appropriate food waste and report high levels of waste to supervisors and management.

      Report any sightings of pests or damage that could provide potential harbourage to pests.

      Complete all relevant control documentation including daily quality report documentation recording the temperature of food and equipment.

      To contribute towards the development of best practice within the hospital and to ensure the Trusts philosophy of quality care and customer service is reflected in practice.

      To Buddy new employees, assisting them to grasp policy and principals around daily working practices.

      To practice what has been learnt in training and instruction given and contribute appropriately.

      To maintain patient safety through vigorous and consistent compliance with Trust Policy and Food Hygiene Legislation including the prevention and control of infection and hand hygiene.
