8:00 AM - 5:00 PMDepartment: Liquid Handling Robotics 504
Primary Purpose :
This is an introductory engineering position, preparing the employee to provide expertise in process mapping, workflow optimization, and programming of automated workflows on various liquid handling platforms in the clinical laboratory. Apply knowledge of engineering, biology, and biochemical principles to the evaluation and implementation of automation solutions in the clinical laboratory. Performs all functions below with direct supervision.

Essential Functions :
Develops skills to serve as technical advisor for automation liquid handling systems and techniques.
Basic ability to develop, program and deploy automation system protocols.
Gathers user requirements, designs, and optimizes workflow using automation platforms and tools.
Collaborates with IT team members to integrate automation solutions into department and enterprise systems such as the LIS, LIMS, or middleware.
Contributes to assay optimization through the configuration and programming of liquid handling systems.
Able to provide basic level of assistance to support teams in solving problems on automation systems.
Validates instruments and automated protocols and writes SOPs and technical documents as needed.
Prepares for and executes instrument installation, operation, and performance qualifications (IQOQPQ).
Analyzes the impact of version upgrades on existing systems and provides recommendations on a plan of action related to system upgrades.
Assist the project teams in the cost analysis of new projects, supports capital acquisition, and provides justification for upgrades and additional equipment.
Trains staff and works with the lab to develop training modules as necessary.
Track and manage changes in liquid handling methods.
Develops protocols for maintenance and monitoring performance.
Effectively communicates project progression and any hurdles with labs and other key project members.

Physical and Other Requirements :
Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist
Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction
Mobility: The person in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Communicate: Frequently communicate with others
PPE: Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies.
ARUP Policies and Procedures: To conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures.
Medium Work: Exerting up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Fine Motor Control: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.
Vision: Having close, far, and peripheral visual acuity to perform a variety of tasks such as make general observations of depth and distance
