      Summary of Duties:

      This position works within the College of Engineering and Architecture and the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science to support instructional and research laboratory activities performing a variety of advanced technical work in the design, development, modification, repair and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment, instruments, and devices.


      Required Qualifications:

      • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or other closely related field and three (3) years of experience directly related to the specialty area. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

      • Strong experimental background and hands-on experience with design and fabrication of experimental components, and excellent problem-solving skills.

      • Familiar with basic laboratory equipment (e.g. control hardware, oscilloscopes, such as a lathe, mill, drill press, etc.).

      • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

      • Good computer skills, including experience with technical/design programs.

      • Must have fine motor skills, be able to climb up and down stairs in the laboratory, and move equipment as necessary.


      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Master's Degree or Ph.D in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or 2 years related industry experience.

      • Experience with the design, development and fabrication of Electrical or Mechanical Engineering laboratories.

      • Experience working within a Higher Education institution.

      Monthly Salary: $4,508.70 - $6,763.06 | In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates typically begin up to mid-point of the salary range. For additional information, please review WSU’s Administrative Professional Compensation.
