Basic Function

The China, TX site is seeking a Lab Supervisor to join the team. In this role, the incumbent will provide technical, operational, and analytical support to the Quality Control lab, production units, and business teams for driving improvements to product quality processes and to the QC laboratory. The focus of the position is to ensure the laboratory provides accurate, reliable, and timely data and support to internal and external customers. #LI-RH1

Roles & Responsibilities

• Accountable for personal safety, the safety of co-workers, and for promoting a safe work environment.
• Ensure that the components of the Quality System are in place, maintained and effective.
• Provide leadership in the areas of Quality Tools, Methods & Strategies.
• Serve as a liaison with customers in the area of Quality.
• Drive the nonconformance process.
• Disposition of nonconforming materials.
• Ensure equipment verification program is properly maintained by Technicians.
• Ensure equipment calibration program is properly maintained.
• Collect and submit samples for outside (contract or customer) testing.
• Execute Quality training for new hires and annual training of Quality related items.
• Ensure compliance to ASTM, ISO, and / or customer mandated protocols, when applicable.
• Assist with internal quality issue investigations and corrective actions.
• Perform all tasks in a safe manner and practice good housekeeping.
• Ensure acquisition of customer and retain samples and assist with customer complaints.
• Ensure the accuracy of work instructions, laboratory standards, calculations, and reporting generated by Laboratory Technicians.
• Oversee training schedules, ensuring that programs are delivered on time and according to internal timelines.
• Develop effective and interactive training programs and materials to support employee development and organizational enhancement.
• Coordinate training and evaluation for the certification of direct / indirect personnel, including new hire orientation and onboarding for all employees.
• Analyze training progress and suggest additional training modules for work teams, as needed.
• Maintain training records for all lab employees

Min. Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• Experience in statistical process control desired.
• Training in testing chemical and physical properties of polymers and / or their additives preferred.
• Properly interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
• Ability to work proactively and support other personnel and departments.
• Possess a professional attitude
• Ability to multitask and utilize the time available to organize and complete work within given deadlines
• Must have excellent interpersonal skills to interface with employees at all levels of the organization

Education
• High School Diploma
• 5-7 yrs of manufacturing experience

Work Experience
• Previous experience in a supervisory role
• Minimum of five years as a Laboratory Technician within a manufacturing setting, or relevant Industrial / Academic experience preferred.

Languages
• English, additional language preferred.
