Education: High school diploma or GED (minimum)
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field (preferred)
Experience : Minimum 1–2 years Previous laboratory experience in calibration, reagent preparation, and lab support (preferred)
Collaboration Tool: Microsoft Teams experience preferred
Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) Certification – Understanding of laboratory standards and compliance.
Pipette Calibration Certification – (e.g., ISO 8655-compliant training) for accurate calibration checks.
Chemical Hygiene & Safety Training – Covers safe handling of reagents and hazardous materials.
Quality Assurance (QA) & Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) Training – Ensures proper documentation and compliance.
5S/Lean Six Sigma Training – Maintains an organized, audit-ready lab environment.
Lab Equipment Maintenance Certification – Covers operation and preventive maintenance of balances, pH meters, incubators, and freezers.
Laboratory Experience – Proficient in conducting experiments, maintaining lab equipment, and following safety protocols.
pH Balancing and Calibration – Skilled in calibrating pH meters and ensuring accurate measurements.
Lab Support & Chemical Handling – Experienced in preparing reagents, storing chemicals properly, and maintaining lab inventory.
Customer Service & Communication – Strong face-to-face interaction skills for working with researchers, clients, and team members.
Operation and maintenance of analytical balances and pH meters including daily calibration checks
Assist in quarterly pipette calibration checks
Assist in monthly/weekly chores such as Pipet-AID checks, water bath cleanings, BSC cleanings, and sample/reagent disposal following the completion of testing
Clean and restock glassware and freezer defrost
Follow SOPs and GLPs
Reagent preparation for assay and analyst use
Provide lab support for scientific operations
Maintain laboratory testing records and worksheets according to established and manufacturing procedures
Performs semi-annual fridge/freezer/incubator PMs
Performs weekly LN2 checks on cry-preservation units
Monitors temperature charts weekly
Reagent and Material Acquisition; maintaining reagent inventory
Schedules housekeeping chores monthly to help maintain the audit-ready state of the laboratory
Participates in 5S projects related to maintaining an audit-ready environment
Other duties as assigned.
The Opportunity:
In this role, you will report to the Onsite Supervisor and will work closely with the Avantor’s Lab and Production Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.
Location: Novato, CA
Shift: Monday–Friday 7:00am - 3:30 pm or 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
Hourly Rate: $26.00 - $28.00

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is
$52,500.00 - $87,400.00Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
