  Laboratory Technician - Plant Gene Editing

  Job Description

  This role supports the development of new gene-edited plants through tissue culture, growth chambers, and greenhouses. You will be integral to advancing our biotechnology processes by working directly in environments that foster plant growth and development.

  Responsibilities

  • Perform growth chamber and greenhouse plant duties.
  • Conduct tissue culture activities to support gene editing processes.
  • Execute plant crossing protocols and assist in breeding development tasks.
  • Collect and enter data for regulatory purposes, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

  Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in cell culture techniques.
  • Knowledge of botany and greenhouse operations.
  • Bachelor's degree in science (ideal fields include plant breeding, botany, plant sciences).
  • Strong attention to detail, as confirmed by references.
  • Passion for the industry, demonstrated in a personal statement.
  • Strong knowledge of SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
  • References attesting to honesty, creativity, and hard work.

  Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience developing or troubleshooting SOPs.
  • Experience with plant breeding.

  Work Environment

  You will work within a biotechnology company utilizing advanced technologies to precisely target and direct plant gene-editing processes. The work environment involves growth chambers, greenhouses, and laboratory settings for cell culturing. The standard schedule is 9 am to 5 pm, Tuesday through Saturday, with a weekend rotation for shared duties. During plant crossing events, which occur a few times per year, partial weekend days may be requested for additional support. The company culture emphasizes teamwork and growth, with all levels of staff, including VPs, occasionally participating in greenhouse tasks.

  Pay and Benefits

  The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $27.00/hr.
