The Laboratory Analyst II conducts a series of basic and complex chemical, physical, or microbiological analyses on environmental samples from a variety of sources. Accurate and valid data from these analyses are used to detect the presence of any harmful substances in order to control or eliminate potential sources of pollution. The analyst assists clients in maintaining the proper treatment and processing of water and wastewater. Clients include wastewater plants, water filtration plants, contractors, and the general public.

This position involves strict adherence to standardized methodologies and procedures on routine recurring samples. The analyst uses good judgment and follows established procedures when prioritizing and scheduling analyses. The analyst also provides technical support to members of the Operations Section.
