- Oversees maintenance of the laboratory's information management system.
- Manages the laboratory's chemical inventory system.
- Assists in the maintenance and oversight of laboratory instrument software particularly regarding LIMS interfacing.
- Serves as the primary liaison between IT staff and software vendors for troubleshooting and upgrades.
- Responsible for the migration of electronic data from contract laboratories into the LIMS
- Working knowledge of terminology and techniques used in conducting environmental analyses.
- Knowledge or, and ability to efficiently use, Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Ability to interpret, and appropriately apply, regulations as they apply to laboratory data reporting automated laboratory practices and chain of custody procedures.
- Ability to verify information on a variety of source documents, identify inaccurate or missing data, and make necessary corrections.
- Knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn and apply, software programs, i.e., Oracle database, Access and Crystal Reporting.
- Bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a laboratory.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience with Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience with Microsoft Suite programs.
- Valid Florida's driver's license.

Employees at the Manatee County Water Laboratory provide reliable, safe drinking water to Manatee County, Sarasota County, and the cities served. Quality control laboratory staff are responsible for the collection and analysis of various water samples from every step in the treatment process. They use complex scientific instrumentation and standardized methods and procedures to monitor water quality to ensure it meets state and federal regulations. The lab is also responsible for algal control activities on Lake Manatee.
As a Laboratory Application Analyst, you will provide computer applications support for the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and other software programs utilized in the laboratory. Work includes the generation of data reports from the LIMS, archiving and maintenance of electronic files and oversight of the laboratory log system. Work involves the use of programming logic, testing, preparation, and revision of programs for computer operation. Work may include but not be limited to, design, development, documentation, and implementation of LIMS application as well as other software programs utilized in the laboratory. Utilizes a variety of programming resources including Oracle, Crystal Reporting, SQL, etc.
