- Lab consists of chemistry, urinalysis, hematology, coagulation, transfusion medicine including antibody identification, microbiology, histology, cytology, and pathology.
- Part of multidisciplinary care team supporting each inpatient department.
- Lab staff include MLS/MT, HT, MLT, and LCT as well as tech specialists in various lab sections.
- Performing phlebotomy at various sites to meet patient/family and other customer needs.
- Following established guidelines to obtain specimens and perform procedures.
- Transporting blood and body fluid under proper conditions and in a timely and safe manner.
- Accurately entering orders and collection information into LIS and subsystems.
- Providing results in LIS/HIS and reports over the phone.
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Phlebotomy experience in a clinical laboratory desired.
- Completion of a Phlebotomy Training Course desired.
- Training as a phlebotomist, clinical assistant, MLA, MLT, MT or LPN or one year experience in health care related work.
Job OverviewFairview Range is hiring a Laboratory Care Technician for our Laboratory Department in Hibbing, MN.
The Laboratory Care Technician plays a meaningful role in providing quality, proficient, and professional services to patients, families, and coworkers. The LCT performs laboratory specimen collection as well as provides safe and secure specimen handling and point of care testing when appropriate. The LCT enters order and collection information into the Laboratory Information System and associated subsystems, schedules tests and procedures, and provides results in the LIS/HIS and over the phone.
Schedule: This position will work 40 to 71 hours per two weeks. The shift length will be 8-hours on the Day/Evening shift. Weekends: Every other weekend

The hospital lab at Fairview Range provides 24/7 support for Fairview Range Medical Center and the Fairview Mesaba Clinics. We are a CAP accredited, highly complex lab with a fully functional microbiology lab including molecular testing and have on-site pathology support. We’re proud to offer a collaboration with the M Health Fairview laboratory systems, which allows our patients local access to a more extensive array of lab services.
