      Job Description A leading company in the biotechnology industry is currently seeking a Laboratory Director to join their team. The role will be challenging but also highly rewarding and this leader will be a key voice in the company. For the right executive, this is a fantastic opportunity with great growth prospects. Key duties include: 1) Oversee daily maintenance, calibration and operation of laboratory instrumentation and instrumentation software 2) Be responsible for the validation and reporting of COAs within the company’s timelines 3) Oversee and manage laboratory budgets and optimize expenses 4) Manage and perform all laboratory testing 5) Maintain laboratory accreditations and licensing requirements 6) Maintain all required records for operations, licensing, and accreditations 7) Develop and ensure compliance with company and state policies, standard operating procedures and test methods 8) Develop and maintain laboratory policy and procedure manuals, quality procedures, operating procedures, written workflows, equipment-specific requirements, training, auditing all written documents and workflows and implementing new systems and procedures, as needed 9) Supervise laboratory staff schedules and train laboratory staff 10) Ensure compliance with instrumentation maintenance, including warranties, and schedule and manage preventative maintenance. 11) Oversee the Laboratory Information Management System and general records management 12) Be responsible for onboarding of new accreditation and testing requirements 13) Research new test methods and improve test efficiency 14) Comply with the company's policies and procedures 15) Ensure company standards for quality and turn-around times for testing services 16) Address issues and make timely, responsible, transparent and sound decisions 17) Involve others in formulating solutions to issues by gathering relevant information and conducting appropriate analyses, which includes responsibility for outcomes and impact of decisions 18) Prepare and review regulatory, managerial and operational reports 19) Maintain strict confidentiality in all appropriate situations 20) Monitor expenditures and receivables to meet company financial goals 21) Work with the Director of Operations to develop and train a highly skilled workforce based on organizational goals, budget considerations, and staffing needs 22) Work with the Director of Operations to ensure that employees are appropriately recruited, including hiring, daily management, discipline, promotions, and training. 23) Work with the Director of Operations to create and maintain annual work plans, monitor employee performance, complete periodic evaluations, counsel, and discipline as necessary in accordance with guidelines 24) Oversee and prepare employee schedules, including leave, to ensure adequate staffing to effectively handle daily and emergency response activities 25) Provide appropriate laboratory resources and support to ensure that the workforce can meet current and future business needs 26) Coordinate with the Account Executive Team to proactively assess and resolve client complaints and inquiries 27) Attend and lead company-required team meetings 28) Compile and prepare reports and analyses setting forth progress, trends, and appropriate recommendations or conclusions as requested by the Executive Management 29) Collaborate with the Laboratory Manager in the management of equipment and supply inventory 30) Manage department costs and efficiencies 31) Work with the Executive Management on budgets and forecasts 32) Create a positive work environment that fosters strong team member engagement and respect in the workplace 33) Perform other duties as assigned Critical Requirements 1) A university degree is required.
