      Job Description

      The Laboratory Quality Advisor provides training, instruction, coaching, and auditing support for maintaining the highest level of analytic testing, equipment maintenance, and adherence to technical and safety procedures to ensure the management system is implemented and designed to embrace best practices.

      Job Responsibilities

      • Lead by example and place Quality, Health & Safety, Security, and the protection of the Environment as core values while never intentionally placing employees, our processes, customers, or the communities in which we live and work at risk.

      • Be the Subject Matter Expert and resource for conformance to standards and accreditation certifications in the following preferred:

        • Cement and Concrete Reference Laboratory (CCRL)

        • AASHTO

        • ISO 17025 Testing and Calibration Laboratories

      • Support laboratory managers and technicians to ensure that the integrated management system components are implemented and are in effect.

      • Draft and/or revise the management system for the laboratories as necessary to ensure effective control of laboratories and ensure that Laboratory Services meets all requirements for accreditation.

      • Maintain the Quality Control auditing program for laboratories and ensuring conformance to both technical and safety standards by:.

        • Create laboratory audit protocols and schedules.

        • Conduct internal audits to assess standards.

        • Coordinate external audit program for the purposes of maintaining accreditation certification.

      • Identify and coordinate or facilitate training for laboratory staff in the quality control areas of:

        • Testing procedures and methods.

        • Equipment maintenance and calibration techniques.

        • Nonconformance support, coordination, reporting and feedback.

        • Management System and management system content.

        • Continuous improvement opportunities as identified.

      • Assess training effectiveness for consistency of processes to ensure taught skills and techniques are incorporated into consistent work behavior.

      • Prepare routine and special reports to Laboratory staff, management, and regulatory agencies as required.

      • Support the Lab manager with competency assessment program of laboratory technicians.

      • Periodically evaluate ongoing audit and training programs to ensure they evolve to reflect current best practices and changes to techniques, equipment, regulatory requirements, etc.

      • Coordinate and manage investigations and root cause analysis into Laboratory nonconformances and unexpected events, including safety-related incidents.

      • Perform all other duties as assigned in a timely, professional, and results-driven manner.

      Job Requirements:

      • Legally authorized to work in the United States, without restrictions.

      • Must be willing to travel, as required or assigned, to Fugro laboratory locations to conduct training and auditing (up to 15%)

      • Associate degree or technical school diploma * May be substituted for minimum of 2years’ experience in similar role

      • Possess relevant knowledge of standards for certifications in ISO 17025, CCRL and AASHTO preferred

      • Capable of performing duties satisfactorily with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment, either independently or as part of a team

      • Ability to manage time appropriately in order to effectively prioritize to complete tasks and adhere to established deadlines. Capable of working in a fluid environment with frequent task changes

      • Report writing skills and ability to communicate clearly (verbal and written) with management, colleagues, and customer.

      • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, preferably in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams as well as skilled in the use of Adobe Acrobat

      • Adept in public speaking and ability to present material professionally to audience either in person or digitally.

      • Possess initiative and self-drive to accomplish tasks and problem solve by leaning on ability to research and learn from past experiences. Be solutions-focused and able to take on challenges calmly and with professionalism.

      • Ability to respond to critical communications (written or verbal) outside of normal business hours. Available 24 hours per day to respond to emergency situations and/or incident occurrences.
