Laboratory Technician

The Laboratory Technician’s role is to monitor, analyze and report Beam Suntory’s Distillery efficiencies, New Make Spirit Quality, Process samples, pre and post filtration, mature product quality and dressed bottled spirit quality.

The main purposes of this role include:

• Prepare samples for analysis following Beam Suntory methods
• Prepare standards for analytical methods
• Maintain laboratory equipment servicing and ordering of laboratory consumables

• Collect data from analytical test methods

• Sample transactions, recording of analytical data in SAP

• Perform GC, AA and HPLC analysis on new make spirit batches for all 5 Beam Suntory Distilleries.
• Ensuring correct samples are available for analysis, retained and managed according to Beam Suntory requirement.
• Implement TRACC, Protect the Castle and audit requirements for continuous improvement.
• Ensure Laboratory housekeeping is always maintained.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Success in this role will result in

• Follow all Health and Safety processes and procedures

• All samples prepared to Beam Suntory specifications
• All samples analysed on time according to Bean Suntory procedures
• Standards creation in specification for analytical testing
• Ensure all data is entered correctly into SAP and in a timely manner
• Turn around time in sample analysis is managed appropriately.
• Demonstrate a professional behaviour as described by Beam Suntory

The main Job Responsibilities include

• Use and maintain GC, AA and HPLC equipment to analyse spirit samples.
• Use and maintain Densitometer, alcoholyser, colour meter, chill haze, pH and BRIX equipment to check product quality against specifications.
• Ensure Barley, Malt and other distillery samples are analysed on time to support distilleries.
• Record all analysis findings on Quality Control system.
• Maintain Quality Control system and adapt to company requirement.
• Continuously improve methods and efficiencies of laboratory analysis.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Advantageous:

• SAP experience
• Production experience of supply chain
• Spirit Industry experience
• Qualified to at least HND in Chemistry
• Great IT skills would be beneficial
• Laboratory environment experience (essential)
