      Job Description

      • Job Position: Laboratory Technician
      • Job Type: Permanent
      • Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday
      • Job Location : Middlesbrough
      • Industry: Natural Resources- Environmental

      You’ll be helping test and analyse environmental samples (like water, soil, etc.) in the lab. You’ll follow set testing procedures and make sure everything is done accurately and on time.

      What You’ll Be Doing:

      • Prepare solid and liquid samples using lab tools and chemicals.
      • Test the samples using standard methods to meet customer requirements.
      • Record your results in our lab IT system (LIMS).
      • Make sure samples are completed on time to keep customers happy.
      • Follow quality control steps and help fix any issues if tests go wrong.
      • Help with training and keep your training records up to date.
      • Report equipment issues quickly so they can be fixed.
      • Support continuous improvement by following our quality systems.
      • Prepare and send sample kits to clients when needed.

      Qualifications

      What You’ll Need:

      • Organised and able to prioritise work.
      • Good communication skills – written and spoken.
      • Flexible and calm under pressure.
      • Able to work independently and reliably.
      • Good computer skills.
      • Good attention to detail – able to accurately measure and weigh samples.
      • GCSEs in Science, Maths, and English (grades A–C or equivalent).

      Nice to Have:

      • Experience working in a lab (especially a UKAS-accredited one).
      • Experience in petrochemical or environmental testing services.
