      We have an opportunity due to an internal promotion for a Laboratory Technician to support the Yarwun Operation with sample preparation and analysis.

      This is a great opportunity for a detail orientated computer savvy individual who is keen to work in a varied role. This is a Fulltime permanent roster.

      Reporting to the Team Leader- Laboratory and working in a supporting and inclusive team you will be:

      • Undertaking the preparation, processing and analysing of samples;
      • Compiling records and producing reporting;
      • Maintaining laboratory equipment and apparatus and preparing solutions and formulations;
      • Ensuring the laboratory is maintained, clean and in an operational state;
      • Applying, improving and optimising the different analytical procedures and methods.

      What you will bring

      • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
      • Current C class or above drivers licence
      • Sound computer knowledge and application, e.g. MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, Sharepoint
      • A keen eye for detail and the ability to work with large amount of data and follow stringent processes
      • Knowledge and experience in a laboratory role would be beneficial but not essential.

      Where you’ll be working

      Located in Central Queensland, approximately 10km north-west of Gladstone, Yarwun alumina refinery commenced operations in 2004. Processing bauxite from our mines in Weipa and Gove, Yarwun produces more than three million tonnes of smelter grade alumina annually.

      As one of the largest industries in the Gladstone region, Yarwun employs over 700 people and has a large contractor workforce.

      With a focus on safely improving our process every day, the team at Yarwun challenge themselves to use existing and emerging technology to support our 24 hour operation.
