      Labour Relations Consulant

      Corporate Services- Human Resources

      Status: Contract Full Time; Contract End Date: December 31, 2024

      Salary Range: $86,443-$108,052 per annum plus comprehensive benefits

      Location: 7120 Hurontario Street, Mississauga

      Hours of work: 35 hours per week

      What you will do in this role:

      Our HR team is looking for an experience Labour Relations Consultant who thrives in a fast pace, challenging, yet rewarding environment. We are looking for a collaborator to work with business management and the broader HR team, to develop and implement appropriate solutions to meet the client needs.

      This role will focus on delivering high quality, effective and consistent employee and labour relations (ELR) consultation, providing support aligned to business objectives and corporate strategies, leading settlement discussions in grievance and arbitration matters and other employee and labour relations dispute resolution processes, and providing advice on general ELR issues and concerns to clients.

      You will utilize your HR knowledge and experience to advise on the administration and appropriate application of HR policies, Collective Agreements, procedures and standards as well as applicable Provincial and Federal legislation/regulations (e.g. Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, Labour Relations Act). You will be a trusted advisor and help to guide client management teams on resolving employee and labour relations issues.

      Lastly, you will participate in negotiations, leads settlement discussions in grievances/arbitrations, discipline and conflict resolutions, Human Rights, Employment Standards and Health & Safety related issues.

      What the role requires:

      • University degree with specialization in HR or related field
      • Five years’ of progressive experience in complex public or private sector unionized work
      • Direct experience with recruitment, compensation and benefits administration, labour relations, employee relations, safety, organizational development and learning
      • Demonstrated ability to lead negotiations in grievance and other employee and labour relations dispute resolution processes
      • An understanding of applicable Human Resources legislation including the Employment Standards Act, Labour Relations Act, the Ontario Human Rights Code, the Ontario Pay Equity Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, etc.
      • Combination of education and experience may be considered

      Skills/Abilities:

      • Demonstrated business literacy and consulting skills with demonstrated ability to persuade/influence business leaders
      • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary HR practices
      • Excellent communications skills both verbal and written and excellent interpersonal skills
      • Strong presentation skills and demonstrated ability to prepare and present reports
      • Excellent problem solving, decision making , critical thinking, and analytical skills
      • Proficiency Word, Excel, Outlook, One Note, Powerpoint, etc,

      In this role you will have the ability to work remotely and attend on-site when required based on operational requirements at the 7120 Hurontario Street, Mississauga worksite. The frequency of on-site activities may vary on a weekly basis and based on operational requirements. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario.
