      The Landlord Engagement/Housing Stabilization Coordinator (Prog Spec 3) provides support to the Office of Homeless Services and its partners in improving housing placement and retention rates for people who have been transitioning from homelessness (shelter, streets, cars, and other places not meant for human habitation) to a new home. The Housing Stabilization Coordinator will focus on creating new partnerships with landlords and provider agencies to develop a coordinated approach to ending homelessness for people by gaining and retaining housing. This position will be required to keep housing data and provide administrative duties to support the work.

      The Office of Homeless Services (OHS) is dedicated to improving efforts to end homelessness by harnessing local data to shape program and system design using a “systems thinking” approach.

      • Conduct landlord recruitment on behalf of the Office of Homeless Services and its partners.
      • Communicate rental opportunities to social service staff at partner agencies through the Coordinated Entry process.
      • Lead efforts to hold monthly residents’ meetings for people who have transitioned from homelessness to housing.
      • Organize and lead planning meetings as requested by the director.
      • Serve as the liaison between the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency (MDHA) and housing navigators who are completing applications for prioritized Section 8 housing subsidies and other housing programs administered by MDHA.
      • Serve as the main point of contact to landlords, addressing any issues that arise with new tenants to help them learn how to meet the obligations of their lease agreements.
      • Work with the Director to identify opportunities to increase permanent housing for the most vulnerable.
      • Work in tandem with the other staff to provide housing data information and enter data into Excel and Web-based programs as needed.
      • Assist both tenants and landlords in meeting the requirements for participating in rent subsidy programs (e.g. Section 8, VASH, etc.) and in communicating with other agencies such as MDHA, as needed.
      • Assist with day-to-day administrative functions including keeping minutes for meetings and other duties as identified.
      • Assist with verifying eligibility for rental and utility assistance for new and prospective tenants and organize files and data on a large number of people requesting and receiving assistance.
      • Other projects as assigned.
      Bachelor’s degree and some experience in program management or development.

      LICENSES REQUIRED:
      Valid driver's license

      Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
      • Experience working in Metro’s Office of Homeless Services or similar government or community agencies
      • Bachelor’s degree with a focus in business, administration, or the social services field
      • Experience in real estate, collaborating with landlords, property management, social service providers, or related issues
      • Proficiency using Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
