Prepare conceptual park facility fit/massing diagrams and drawings to support reports regarding local area park and facility plans, land transfers and parkland dedications.
-
Research and assemble pertinent base mapping and background information about specific sites, projects, assets, and initiatives.
-
Carry out condition assessments of existing facilities, and surveys of specific sites to document existing site conditions to carry out or assist in layout for construction.
-
Review and validate condition assessment data for quality and completeness.
-
Update as-built drawings and prepare verbal and graphic presentations using current software packages.
-
Utilize a Computer Aided Design and Drafting application (CADD) as well as Geospatial Information System (GIS) software to generate maps, technical drawings, and asset spatial distribution diagrams for reporting and asset planning purposes.

Prepare technical graphic maps, drawings and/or tender documents.
-
Assemble technical specifications to support development of park projects.
-
Draft Request for Tender (RFT), Request for Proposals (RFP), Request for Quotations (RFQ), Request for Supplier Qualification (RFSQ), provide bid analysis and prepare report.

Obtain quotations for park construction projects and coordinate and supervise the work.
-
Estimate quantities for construction and/or budget purposes.
-
Assist with data management, analyzing current condition assessment data and costs.
-
Prepare related reports and correspondence related to assigned work and information requests.
-
Undertake the organization and filing of asset data including drawings, reports, asset inventories and other documents, maintaining project tracking, facilities and parks inventories and databases.
-
Post-secondary education in architecture and/or landscape architecture, or the approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
-
Considerable experience in the operation of CADD and experience producing maps and graphics to illustrate concepts, and ability to assist others on same.
-
Considerable experience working with interactive computer graphic systems and software for mapping, drawing, imagining and desktop publishing (i.e., AutoCAD, GIS, Illustrator, InDesign/Photoshop, etc.) and the ability to assist others on same.

Extensive experience utilizing a variety of office productivity software packages including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.

Experience in the planning, design, and implementation of architectural or landscape projects, including public parks and related facilities.
-
Considerable experience in related technical office procedures and ability to use related equipment (e.g., drafting practices and specifications, reading and interpreting technical drawings and plans, cartographic skills, using GIS, creating and maintaining databases, filing, photocopying, etc.).

Knowledge of the park and recreation facility planning acquisition and development process.
-
Knowledge of current practices in urban forestry, horticulture and ecological restoration particularly relating to the use of native materials in sustainable landscapes and common techniques used in landscape construction.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to meet and interact with staff, elected officials, the public and representatives from external agencies and organizations, in an efficient and diplomatic manner that garners issue resolution and productive outcomes.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.
-
Ability to perform duties in a fast, accurate and efficient manner, with minimum supervision often under tight deadlines.

Membership in the Ontario Association of Architects (OALA) or the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects would be considered an asset.
