      Do you have three years of experience as a litigation law clerk in insurance defence or a related field? If so, this is the role for you within the Property and Casualty Insurance Defence In-house Legal team at Desjardins. You will be entrusted with a diverse range of tasks that play a vital role in supporting the effective functioning of the legal department. Additionally, the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize deadlines, and adapt to changing circumstances is crucial for success in this dynamic and fast-paced environment. You will be part of a team that focuses on and delivers exceptional client experience and superior legal services. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to the overall success of the department by playing a key role in upholding the standards of excellence and professionalism that define Desjardins as a leader in the legal industry. More specifically, you will be required to:

      • Assist counsel and carry a case load of files, from beginning to end, including preparation for court proceedings

      • Communicate with clients and other legal professionals

      • Draft pleadings and motions, draft undertaking letters and charts, create various legal briefs, and summarize documents

      • Understand the need to provide confidential clerking support to counsel

      • Support counsel while attending trial and hearings

      What you bring to the table

      • Bachelor's degree in a related field

      • A minimum of three years of relevant experience

      • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered

      • Experience with trials and/or hearing preparation

      • Knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure and Insurance Defence Litigation, with an emphasis in Accident Benefits and Bodily Injury work

      • Knowledge of court and tribunal filing systems
