Job Description

- Conduct proactive threat hunting assignments leveraging a wide range data sources including endpoint telemetry, network traffic, logs, and threat intelligence.
- Develop and test hunting hypotheses based on threat intelligence, adversary TTPs (e.g. MITRE ATT&CK), and historical data.
- Perform baseline hunts on newly onboarded log sources to understand normal behavior, identify anomalies, and establish initial detection opportunities.
- Build and iterate on advanced queries, detections, and dashboards in various security tools.
- Collaborate with detection engineering to operationalize validated hunt findings into new detection content.
- Partner with incident response to investigate suspicious findings and provide context-rich leads.
- Document hunting procedures, playbooks, and outcomes to continuously refine and mature the hunting program.
- Mentor junior analysts on threat hunting concepts, tradecraft, and best practices.
- Partner with incident response activities for highly complex events
- Conduct technical investigation of security related incidents to identify causes and recommend future mitigation strategies
- Provide security consulting on large projects for internal clients to ensure conformity with corporate information, security policy, and standards
- Design, document, test, maintain, and provide issue resolution recommendations for highly complex security solutions related to networking, cryptography, cloud, authentication and directory services, email, internet, applications, and endpoint security
- Review and correlate security logs.
- Utilize subject matter knowledge in industry leading security solutions and best practices to implement one or more components of information security such as availability, integrity, confidentiality, risk management, threat identification, modeling, monitoring, incident response, access management, and business continuity
- Identify security vulnerabilities and issues, perform risk assessments, and evaluate remediation alternatives
- Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including managers
- Lead a team to achieve objectives
- 5+ years of Cyber Security Research experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- Execute model-assisted threat hunts by incorporating outputs from anomaly detection, behavioral analytics, and machine learning models to enrich detection capabilities.

This Lead Information Security Engineer will perform proactive Threat Hunting to enhance our detection capabilities. This role will uncover hidden threats through hypothesis-driven investigations, baseline analysis, and model-assisted techniques. The engineer will play a key role in transforming raw security data into actionable detections by identifying behavioral anomalies and adversary tactics across our environment. Their work will directly inform detection engineering and incident response, strengthening our overall threat-informed defense strategy.
