      RBC Business Financial Services – Technology & Operations software developers build the next-generation technologies that change how millions of people interact with financial information and one another. Our products need to handle information at massive scale and extend well beyond traditional banking.

      We’re seeking a Lead Frontend Developer to join our expanding digital transformation team. Enjoy the autonomy to drive innovation and build/operate services on a modern cloud platform within a dynamic team-oriented environment.

      You will be creating new services and customer-facing applications using the latest technologies that will help shape the future of banking for RBC.

      What will you do?

      • Lead the front-end development efforts using reusable components to create responsive, scalable, and user-friendly client interfaces

      • Lead technical design and development of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems. Applies extensive, in-depth knowledge, skills, and practices to perform complex assignments

      • Lead/Guide/Mentor 3 person frontend team

      • Analyze features such as feasibility, associated costs, time and the compatibility of new programs/existing programs and hardware. Ensure that expected application performance levels are achieved

      • Consult on business assessment and requirements analysis processes, for the development of hardware and operating systems

      • Perform complex application programming activities, including coding, testing, debugging, documenting, maintaining, and modifying complex applications programs

      • Coordinate coding, testing, implementation and documentation of application solutions

      • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and create mock-ups

      • Implement and optimize user interactions, visualizations, and data presentations for an intuitive user experience

      • Participate in agile development processes for timely project delivery

      • Continuously improve the performance, functionality, and usability of software applications

      • Build compelling reports/dashboards and translate findings into data storytelling

      • Pro-actively communicate and collaborate with internal stakeholders to analyze functional requirements and deliver the appropriate artefacts as needed

      What you need to succeed

      • Minimum of 7 years of experience of Frontend Development

      • Minimum of 2 years leading/guiding/mentoring development teams. Ability to accept accountability, assume leadership and demonstrate initiative

      • Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and related front-end technologies – Angular, NodeJS etc.

      • Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and asynchronous request handling

      • Familiarity with UI/UX principles and responsive design techniques and WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines)

      • Proficiency in building data services and managing application state using NGXS/NgRx or similar

      • Proficiency in reactive programming library such as RxJS

      • Multiple years of experience in designing wireframes and mock-ups (Figma preferred), developing, and maintaining web-based applications, architectures and frameworks

      • Great eye for detail – the ability to transform high fidelity prototypes into pixel-perfect user interfaces.

      • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to optimize application performance

      • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively both in a collaborative team environment and autonomously

      • Strong business communication and stakeholder management skills, particularly refining requirements directly from business stakeholders and working with ambiguities

      • Advanced knowledge of, and experience in manipulating large disparate data sets from multiple sources in multiple formats

      • Bachelor’s degree in CompSci or related degree preferred or minimum of 7 years frontend development experience

      Nice to have:

      • Knowledge and experience of Google Analytics for reporting

      • Agile mindset and ability to balance priority and workload

      • Understanding of modern styling tools – SASS/SCSS, Flexbox, Animations, etc.

      • Strong knowledge of fundamental data concepts (for example, but not limited to groups, hierarchies, data structures) and SDLC.

      • Experience with Jira, GitHub

      • Experience with Visual Studio
