      As a member of the API and Microservices crew, you will contribute to all aspects of the technology products and services we deliver, from technical strategy and design to coding to deployment to operation. Our products and services are leveraged across all Business Unit Platforms within the Bank to deliver industry-leading software including: CommBank App, Netbank, CommSee, CommSec, CommBiz and Commbank.com.au.

      Our Group API squad is responsible for delivering & maintaining our API Gateways & API Management platform, simplifying integration between both internal and external systems, and enabling squads to discover and request access to APIs.

      Our Greenfield platform is built solely on AWS, with automated deployments managed via GitOps. You'll work on both project and BAU tasks, including establishment of our API portals, developing automation to simplify on-boarding to our API gateways & ensuring adherence to CBA's API standards.

      We're interested in hearing from people who

      • Demonstrate a strong understanding of API Gateway (Kong, AWS or similar) including design, implementation and support experience is essential .
      • Have a proven track record in a Lead Engineer capacity working in a public cloud environment; AWS would be advantageous.
      • Are passionate about Cloud/DevOps/Automation and possess a keen interest to solve
        complex problems in a systematic approach.
      • Are proficient in cloud infrastructure automation (i.e. CloudFormation, Terraform, Groovy, Jenkins etc.).
      • Have strong communication skills and can interact with all levels of stakeholders confidently.

      Technical Skills

      We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team;

      • Experience with foundational AWS services (EC2, ECS, Cloud formation, Lambda, S3, Secrets Manager, KMS, IAM services etc.).
      • Confident in building and operating Docker container-based services.
      • Experience with source control systems (Git), Ansible and with CI/CD tools.
      • Proven track record of managing multitenancy and security implications.
      • Knowledgeable in enterprise networking and adept at working with cloud-native solutions.
      • Extensive experience in utilising cloud deployment and orchestration technologies at scale, including comprehensive understanding of service discovery, deployments, monitoring, scheduling, and load balancing.
